  • Besides that point: why tf do they even crawl lemmy. They could just as well create a "read only" instance with an account that subscribes to all communities ... and the other instances would send their data. Oh, right, AI has to be as unethical as possible for most companies for some reason.

  • It sucks that they have to do this. But I prefer this than to simply lock out users from the affected countries.

(Looking at steam here, not bothering to create age verification, which in turn means in some countries some games are not visible/purchasable at all)

  • I not only want a degoogled version but also a secure one. Sadly developing a secure android is rather hard. The Graphene team does it pretty well. Others try it too, but sadly they are not close.

  • Meanwhile in Germany it is hard to get hard drives below 15€/TB.

  • First thing I always mod away:

    • Carry size
    • Trader gold limits
    • weapon durability (totk being a notable exception)

I want to play the game, not the inventory.

  • Thanks for sharing this, it is an interesting read (though an additional comment about what this about would have been helpful).

I want to say I am glad I do not use either of these services but Yandex implementation seems so bad that it does not matter, as any app could receive their data🙈

  • Isn't the issue with the different selfhosted variants that the official version has more language rules available?

  • In Germany (where you can now get it via a club or as medication) it is a little bit cheaper since the legalization in some clubs.

  • Humam - like human, but not really.

  • I personally like Tandoor a lot. The parsing works pretty well and every ingredient can be adjusted. And there is a pretty good mobile app with https://kitshn.app/ which is also my main shopping list, as I can create custom categories and add articles to that with tandoor.

  • Can I buy that on Amazon?

  • I hope Oracle will finally send out mails to the affected customers. No idea if I am affected as Oracles login process is so convoluted that I have no desire to deal with it or understand it.

  • Proton mail

Maybe they won't actively support fascists🥲

  • In Austria the 'pedophile hunters' targeted gay men who were not pedophiles. If 'pedophile hunters' would actually care about their cause, they would storm the next church...

  • Does Bambulab actually sell trans_parent_ PETG now? Last I checked it was only trans_lucent_.

Light probably does come through the translucent PETG, but as it is only translucent and not transparent you might not be able to see through.

  • Nah, Betterdiscord is still alive and kicking. And it still has the best image utility plugin.

  • First of all quadlets do not have to be pods. Second ... Are you currently running pod an commands just in tmux? Like each pod a tmux session? In that case quadlets is definitely an improvement.

  • Which benefits does AT have in comparison to Activity pub? Except currently single point of entry/failure?

  • He was also a prolific inventor that worked tirelessly to help give us the telegraph

Definitely not. The first telegraph was built by Francos Ronalds, about 30 years before Edison's birth. Gauss/Weber built another one 1833. Morse and Vail introduced electromagnetic relays in 1838, enabling signals to travel beyond short distances.

    and the lightbulb.

Arguably. He may made the first commercially viable lightbulb, but not the first overall. Alessandro Volta, Humphrey Davy, James Bowman Lindsay, Warren de la Rue and William Staite all played a role.
