    As I see it, Heimerdinger was ready to give up, when he was removed from the PiltoverdCouncil by Jayce, his former pupil. He tried previously to dissuade Jayce from using Hextech like this.

    Then he found Ekko creating a community in Zaun with an inspiring ingenuity despite pretty much everything else happening, so Heimerdinger decided stayed and helped out while teaching Ekko on how to improve on his designs. Heimerdinger wants to improve the world after all - but safely - and sees his opportunity here.

    Then in season 2 they wind up in alternative dimensions due to Hexcore shenanigans, because Heimerdinger wants to help Ekko sustain his community. Jayce ends up in over where the "final battle" already happened. Heimerdinger lands in one where Hextech apparently does not exist at all and the city is better off because of it missing. One where Heimerdinger himself can probably be more relaxed as he has more time for his stuff and has to deal less with politics and betrayal.

    Ekko arives 3 years later. And Ekko wants to go back no matter the cost. And this puts Heimerdinger in a pickle: the last time he tried to dissuade his his pupil the results were catastrophic. Ekko would have worked it alone (or would probably have roped in Powder) endangering not only himself but atleast Powder, probably even the Zaun/Piltover (mind you, Ekkos knowledge about Hextech is very limited, while Heimerdinger oversaw the research most of the time - and Hex is notoriously unstable).

    So to protect the timeline/city/Powder/peace he liked as well as helping Ekko get back to his community the reasonable conclusion would be to help despite not being keen of the idea. The ~4 second limit of the Z-Drive comes from the instability of the Hexshards. Any longer and it goes boom, potentially killing people around. And this limit is what he uses to break Victors mask in the end for Jayce to intervene.

  • I really like that. As a variation I've heard "What shall your gravestone read?" and then work backwards from that to make it happen. Currently I am struggling a bit with an answer for myself but I am working on turning something up. I appreciate your answer :)

  • e.g. "What does love mean to me?" (To me the most obvious question.) For me it means choice and then effort. I choose my partners every day and I hope they make that choice too. Then comes the effort to make the choice known, in little as well a big gestures.

  • Don't let good be the enemy of perfect here. Most systems wont be replaced in a year but even with tiny steps you can reach a milestone. It is extremely important to reduce dependence on other states for the own state to function, especially if it is led by a nazi orange.

  • Which system are you using? SELinux/AppArmot active? Can you share your compose? There are manyavariables at play here.

    Other than that: Setting UID/GID via environmental variable is usually wrong, mostly from a design perspective of the container. There is a user directive during build as well as during deploy to use for that.

    From a quick look at the docker file it does look like the user you use to run linkding needs to be in the root group.

    BUT rootless podman maps the root user (usually to your user ID) to so the root user inside the container has not the same ID as the one outside. So I would suggest setting the permissions of the volume to your user for now.

    Another way to figure out which user to use: just start a new/clean instance of the service and look at the new volumes.

    Basically I run Komodo, which pulls a git repo. Renovate opens a PR (and most of the time the changelog is included, so I can quickly check what happened) for new versions. Once merged a webhook fires to tell Komodo to pull the new version.

    I really recommend this approach now. Once setup it is very automatic, but not to the point of YOLO-automation like Watchtower and :latest 😅
