  • Not really. Windows and assume Linux cache writes and might actually write after you thought it's written, that's why you have to always unmount USB drives before you pull them out.

  • Yes, but they can get away with a tiny amount of it. Perhaps we are back at the start of personal computing and arcade machines era, where every byte counted.

  • While that's true, it's a low bar. Ideally artists get some meaningful payments. There is also an issue how they count streams, do they count them correctly etc. From what I remember, it's very shady.

  • From what I remember, there are cheaper China memory modules that are (were?) selling like hot cakes, but eventually they increased the price as well, or something like that.

  • Yep, but they still have a long way to go when it comes to co2 emissions.

  • Old phones, if nothing else, lack software updates meaning also security ones. Also battery might need replacement.
