  • Sure, but even then we don't have a solution today. It's all in the fuzzy future.

  • Where do you have TWhs of batteries? As you said, both quantity and capacity matters, when lower capacity you need bigger battery which is harder to put somewhere.

  • Are you talking about batteries?

  • Yeah, that's a step in correct direction, but can you guarantee that everybody can be powered 24/7 through renewables/batteries, specially during winter? Unless that's the case you still need a shit-ton of non-renewable energy that's coming either from fossil fuels or nuclear. And if you want to avoid (co2) emissions, then you need nuclear to cover everybody, and if you have nuclear then it has to run 100% 24/7. OTOH if you don't have nuclear, you'll emit all sort or crap during those periods. And so on. Also, it's not just that batteries are sort of expensive, they are big. Also you are talking houses, but masses live in apartments where placing solar panels or batteries isn't possible (at least in quantity).

  • What batteries exactly? The capacity required is huge.

  • Yep, most people don't care

  • Sure, bandcamp is a very good option to buy albums. But that doesn't give one the right to pirate.

  • I'm sure they are on Spotify (which is shitty anyway) and other streaming services by choice. And if you are against streaming services, feel free to buy their albums.

  • Even if that was ok, I'm sure people who pirate buy a ton of merch from all the artists they pirate, that's why all those artists get a ton of money.

  • No, it's not. Even more so if you like your artists.

  • Perhaps they were misguided by "I'll end war in Ukraine in 24hrs" and thought fascist immigrant raids bare the same probability 🤷‍♂️

  • Or buy domestically produced iPhone.

  • I'd be perfectly fine with some sort of subscription. That gets distributed to authors I watch. But I can see technical challenges to it.

  • A big problem with peertube is monetization. There should be some sort of mechanism that'd do that automatically. Otherwise there won't be much content ever. Don't get me wrong, I'm really happy that it exists but just don't see it replacing even few % of YouTube as it is.

  • Another vote for Fedora KDE.

  • And also community profits. But I don't see it happen because politicians are dumb. In my country (EU) they still use X and Facebook only to communicate on social media. Microsoft is also heavily embedded in all pores.

  • The only way to fake it would be to use a "public" signature, but then again, I'm sure google will revoke them eventually. I guess rooting won't be enough, one would have to change some internal binaries. Perhaps it's time for a ungooglified android OS 🤷‍♂️

  • Torrent client is just an application, author shouldn't be responsible - naive thinking I suppose

  • I'd say a big ton of them :(
