  • Bluesky literally allows people to finetune controls on things like allowing quote posts and replies. Thats way more freedom that the average social media platform gives to a user.

  • Bluesky has the USP of people being able to choose from multiple algorithms or even use multiple ones at the same time; and that certainly has resonated with a lot of people.

  • The Mastodon devs have received a grant to work on a search/visibility tool in 2025, so I definitely expect developments there

  • Whatever the usecase for Instagram is

  • Well at least not according to the legal view of the tax authorities.. from what I have heard anecdotally over the years about german tax authorities, they seem to be very much not living in a 21st century digital world.

  • They previously had a pretty unique structure (gemeinnützige GmbH) but the german authorities stripped them from that status saying "free social media is not a public benefit purpose".

  • I thought it is two snakes who are building the snowman

  • Well, I don't know how you could implement that from a website that would enable people to choose? Not sure that is technically possible.

And of course if you simply telll your browser not to send referer info in headers you won't.

  • That PR is not even merged and deployed yet. When it gets released: simply ask your instance admin, I guess. (I think looking into the source code might also tell you but no idea where to search exactly)

  • If people dont care enough to mess with their browser settings thenselves, then they can either a. join a privacy-focused Mastodon instance whose admin will keep the "no referer" policy, or b. live with the fact that choices are being made for them. People need to take actions for themselves, we cant treat everyone like babies.

  • Read the article. It is a configurable thing and each mastodon server admin has to activate it in order to send a referer.

  • Same, millennial here and I massively prefer card view over having to click again. Similarly I want a Mastodon interface in which links are shown as link preview cards.

  • Beans have cats, duh.

  • Nature catastrophes are the top 1 danger to nuclear energy. See Fukushima.

And the real question here would be a comparison between risk of a nuclear accident event and a renewables-impacting climate event.

  • Now that's a very openly worded question. I could even answer "their logos" lol

  • Is the majority enthusiastic to vote for him? His own campaigning rallies were a snorefest, as far as we saw.

For me the main "a-ha" here is that so many people apparently still believe his stupid story that he is a guy who makes deals to fix the economy. Instead of a con-man. I have no idea why democrats were not able to destroy this "economic leader" image that he has built. Or why Harris and Walz did not focus on the issue every poll in the last month did say was the most important one: the economic situation.

  • I mean, the article clearly says that she won moderates.
