  • If this happened near or post-interplanetary colonization, I'm reasonably confident that they'd be named after or by whichever corporation buys and takes the largest influence over the planet.

We all know Elon wants to name Mars Planet X, so let's agree now to blow it up as soon as that happens.

Earth's name would probably be left alone. I'd imagine Google going after Saturn and maybe preserving the name too, maybe giving it a little name if they hadn't blown every word in the English language on dead projects.

Microsoft, in their lack of vision, would name Mercury Microsoft (if they're still around by this point).

  • I remember there being something misleading about the "temperature" in pV=nRT, but yeah, I think I was getting confused because I was thinking about it purely formulaicly.

But if the pressure drops and the volume of the gas increases, in order for it to cool, that would mean the drop in pressure is much less significant than the rise in volume?

But yeah, I should've remembered that expanding gasses cool, because I know how aerosol cans work. It's time to touch up on this stuff lol.

  • This is my high school chemistry talking here, but don't expanding gasses heat up? Ideal gas law and everything? Is there something weird happening like the CO2 instantaneously pressurizing or something right before expanding?

  • And to think all those times I cursed CORS under my breath. Doing God's work.

  • Same (I wouldn't have paid Reddit, but I did donate to boost), but this comment was funny because "The Big R" is what my friend and I call Roblox.

  • I presume "vibe coder" stands for Visual Besic?

  • I start next Monday, what now?

  • I'm hired, what now?

  • Never felt any impetus to drink, and I have a personal aversion to recreational drugs.

Without thinking too hard about it, I probably get the most joy from learning stuff, especially when it's within a topic of interest and has any level of application to my interests or skills. Bonus points when I make the connection myself.

I see other comments mentioning ADHD, so I'll add that I have a diagnosis for it as well.

Good question, though. It's been a while since I asked myself this, and I'm overdue for a reassessment. Thanks.

  • I don't block unless it's excessive spam. Informational disadvantage, yadda yadda.

I just exercise the same muscle I use to restrain myself from responding to bait on modern day Reddit, since my account there is still active but not posting (yes, even lurking is technically contribution, but there's too much useful information there for me to justify completely cutting it out).

And for the record, I disagree with block features removing posts from the user on the other end. Public information -> only I get to decide what I do and don't see. Private information -> only I get to decide what I do and don't share. A bit idealistic, but we're talking about a web forum here.

  • The thing is, AI doesn't need to take over the world if the BiG tHiNkErS are so eager to replace humans regardless of its merit.

  • Didn't even get the joke here because this is how I always imagined genie wishes working.

  • Pride, like most emotions or feelings, exists on a range. You can be proud of all of these things, including your achievements; it's the degree to which you carry that pride that determines the "douchebaggery," don't you think?

The sports team, I would say, probably has the lowest "douchebaggery threshold," as the spectator is so far removed from the team—especially for professional teams—whereas the others carry more involvement and/or stake for its community.

  • This is the way.

  • Yeah, I guess left-leaning white males are just as underprivileged and oppressed as people of color and women. We should rename it to "conservative white male privilege."

  • My high school had a pretty big exchange program (up until COVID) mainly from China, Vietnam, and Spain, and I hung out with them all the time after school, and some of them even more 😅. Very pleasant experience getting to know about them and where they came from, and it was always super fun and interesting to see how they would react or approach American customs or even that of the other exchange students.

Was super bummed out when COVID disrupted that.

  • ~40 hours literally a few days ago. Had a project due date through which I procrastinated heavily. Not proud of that one.

I don't think I experienced any hallucinations, but it sucked. What was weird was that by hour ~33, I tried going to sleep, but failed and ultimately got back up. Hopefully never again.

Edit: just occurred to me as well that of that time, I worked for 20 straight hours. Don't be like me.

  • In about five hours I'm getting rinsed by my MMO of choice.

    Xaku Prime Access, baby T_T
