  • I have no idea of this case. But people can drown in very shallow water - it happened before and will in the future.*Helping someone who is drowning is very dangerous.*If they are drunk/sleepy/frozen/high/exhausted - it is easier to drown.*If they can't swim the panic is deadly.Water is no joke....

  • Late stage capitalism.Having kids is really expensive and insane amount of responsibility. Childcare is a full time job - so you need to go one worker per family, or be able to afford paying for it.

  • Unless you know that person should have the knowledge - no it's not possible.

Very few people are coded to give straight and short answers. We tend to wander around a topic, and the more specific info you need - you need to give a more specific question.

Nowadays it is easier with the AIs - you can learn how to ask pointed questions and request links to the source - to cut down llm bs.

  • Fake it til you don't look like an awkward person - level up tov only slightly odd.Life is life - most 'adults' just trying to keep their head above the water.

But to help: find a community - your ideas for new skills are great. Learn to be confident in your knowledge - that help with awkward feelings.Expose yourself to new ideas and meet new people. Put yourself in situations you hate like: public speaking.

Eventually you will get old and realize that nothing really matters. You know, that awkward moment you still think before falling asleep: no one else remembers it. (Unless it was really a total cluster fuck - but i doubt it).Anyhow, good luck! You can do it!

  • This one feels more like a rant, than a real question and that's okay. :)Human emotions are messy. Who says you can't have pity and glee at the same time? You can be sad and kinda vindicated by other people behavior (stupidity). You can still wish them to be happy - only really far from you.Sympathy and empathy can be hard emotions to feel. So many layers of thinking are behind them. And some people not that good at empathy even when they try.It os a mess, and you probably won't find any answers on an internet forum / social media anyway :).Tho they say loving kindness meditation helps to feel more connected and more empathetic towards fellow humans.

  • 'Theater partner' is literal translation. Basically it is her date for an actual theater performance. The implications is that going to a theater or opera means you have to dress up. It was still true about 30 years ago.The basket and wallet indicates that she thinks he is dressed for a date to go to the piac (kinda farmer's market but not fancy at all think of fish market just no fish).

  • Any of the Ghibli movies? Have you seen the food they have? Aside of that joke ....It is really hard to decide. Marvel universe would be interesting because you just get superpowers basically by default.None of the classic animes. They are too focused on the main characters to have any meaningful world building.Star Trek during TNG is very chill for the masses. So that would be safe and interesting.None of the SW bs, no Harry Potter neither... Maybe some Forgotten Realms stuff - probably after the Drizzt saga (i stooped reading after the 5k orcs books so probably arond there).Dragonlance had a nice idillic world building. And they had dragons!Very hard question, indeed!

  • 7 in Hungarian folklore also.

  • Tho those eye biting flies in California don't seem like a joyful occasion...

  • At least there is Europe.

  • Free childcare and early childhood development with free meals for kids. Ohh and playgrounds and parks. It has proven in the past to improve a lot of things in a community.

  • I have a brother laser printer. It is very basic, but it can print stickers with the right paper. And the finished product won't run, because it is laser vs ink.I just put the third toner in, and works fine. The only thing if you get a basic one, make sure it can use the right wifi network in your home.

  • Talking to a random stranger in an environment where random talk is possible yes. (Bus, waiting room, concert, bar, basically anywhere public).Going to stranger's s table at a restaurant (not fast food, or shoulder to shoulder) nope.

  • I do love llms they have their limited use cases. But the problem is that humanity is right now playing with a loaded gun.If we would learn how to use it properly, it would be just another useful tool. But we are incapable of being respectful of anything that's not within our sight. An sometimes not even if it is within. Our greed and laziness is what makes it bad. All those psychotic breaks? All those easy to exploit safeguards? Loosing our cognitive ability? Wasting money on unproven systems to make more money?Humans are the problem.Honestly I am waiting for AI caused copyright hellscape apocalypse. If everything is free, everything is free - and they can't make money. It will be an 'interesting ride' for the years to come.

  • Elephants! After them~~ everything else~~ is my favorite :)Edit, never mind: Not everything else, mostly mammals and fishes - and couple danger noodles and creepy-crawlers - but definitely not icky bloodsuckers. Tho leeches are at least prettier while swimming, than those flying disease vectors.

  • Human monkey brains like enclosed spaces for security especially when we are the most vulnerable. Closed doors gives you the impression of safety. And on top of that I have a window in the bathroom that's not have any balckout curtains on it. So it needs to be closed, else I would wake with the sun. And that's not a desired outcome.

  • I only saw the top part of the picture at first, and I was very confused: "Why is this in Science Memes?"
