  • I'm so stupid excited for the Samsung headset they showed off. I use my quest in XR/MR almost every single day and its so close to being really good.

I will absolutely be picking it up, and I'm willing to be a guinea pig for this

  • I'm just saying, panicking basically never helps any situation and can even make things much worse. As much as that might go against human nature, not panicking will help you in infinitely more situations than panicking.

  • The evil-doers are sub-human and should be culled without mercy until I'm right.

I know what you mean but that sentence is really funny when 1.5 sentences earlier you said "it's why dehumanization is the first step to commiting atrocities" haha

  • I dont have a docker container, I just have Samba running on the server itself.

I do have an owncloud container running, which is mapped to a directory. And I have that shared out through samba so I can access it through my file manager. But that's unnecessary because owncloud is kind of trash.

  • If you want to use the terminal though, there is scp which is supported on both windows and Linux.

Its just scp [file to copy] [username]@[server IP]:[remote location]

  • why do you apply

You make a lot of money and if you've been in FAANGs for a while then it's a natural transfer.

But to back them up, one of my buddies interviewed at Microsoft, Google, and Meta all at the same time, and then was able to pit Google and Microsoft against each other to get a really really cool job.

  • On GitHub there is a tracker for how many commits you make in a year, but it's super easy to fake. But it's also pretty obvious when you fake it haha

  • it's communal, and it brings others into the circle

As a big pot head I think this is the big point. If you see someone smoking, there's a damn good chance they'll let you take a smoke. But you gotta be careful, cause then you're gonna be stuck into a 30 minute convo about nothing haha

I didn't say "perfect chance" because one time I was in German outside a club and smelled someone smoking a joint so I mimed the smoking gesture and he called me a selfish American and then they all laughed at me haha. But then later that night they called me over to do a couple shots with them so ¯(ツ)

  • This. To be clear I have absolutely no problem with furries existing and I believe anything less than letting y'all be would be tantamount to treason.

But God damn I just cannot understand it. I don't get it. And it weirds me out.

Like I said, I would actually fight to defend your right to wear your fur suit out in public. But I'm also going to make fun of you because man it's just weird.

Although I did have a coworker (I work in IT so this isn't actually that surprising) who was a furry and he tried to meow at me one time when I called his name. Don't do that. That was weird. Just tell me what you did to fix the computer man.

  • Yeah I have and saying that kinda just makes you seem uninformed.

Like the people who call the US "a 3rd world country in a Gucci belt". It just makes it super obvious that you don't understand how high quality of a life the average person has in the US. Especially globally.

  • My team once spent an entire afternoon trying to figure out why an API call was returning either incorrect data, or just no data at all.

Basically we were in the middle of migrating the API call from one API to another and we didn't update the URL in the variable, so it was still hitting the old API 🙃

  • The IRS just switched columns and rows. So there's 60k rows and 330 million columns /s

  • until it's better we should simply ignore this

That seems like a strange comment to make. How will it get better if we don't spend the time and effort to make it better?

  • I feel like thats just how it is to talk to conservatives. Like they get so close and then at the very last second they take a hard left and blame minorities somehow

  • I've always had my lower limit for how young I'd date as "she has to be older than my brother". But my brother is only 3 years younger than me so that's becoming less and less relevant as he's pushing into his mid 20s now haha

  • This is the big reason I have such strong feelings about pushing kids into a competitive space. Whether that's sports, chess, marching band, etc. Just as long as there is structured practice and then competition against another person or team.

Because sports really will teach kids that no matter how hard you practice, sometimes you just won't win. And that's okay. The important thing isn't winning every time, it's getting back up and pushing even harder when you lose to win next time.

Its a critically important thing for people to learn, and I can't think of a better and safer place than youth sports.

  • Its partially because there is only one set of antennas large enough to communicate with it, and that's only sometimes. Its called the Deep space network and it is very secure because it's used for many things, not just communicating with the Voyager probes.

Second, you'd have to have very very intimate knowledge of the hardware, and programming language to even begin to hack it. And the people who do have that knowledge are very very passionate about their probes.

So I guess technically the answer is yes. But practically, no.

  • Stop trying to make V'ger happen! Its not going to happen!
