she/her, A(u?)DHD, German, sometimes draws nonsense. Likes Doctor Who a normal amount.

  • It comes up every once in a while in therapy.

In case you're interested: The problem for me is that I can't see the other person's face so I have trouble judging their reactions. Are they mad at me, are they confused by what I said, are they joking around? When in doubt, I tend to default to the worst possibility so I'm constantly on the defense. That's what's exhausting about it. It's a little easier with friends and family because I can of course interpret their voices more easily but I still don't enjoy it. I know it's not "normal" but it's also not something that's going to change anytime soon.

  • I can talk on the phone - if left with no other choice. And then I need to lie down because it's exhausting as fuck.

  • Haven't seen the movies in German so I can't tell you what exactly he says. But distances in miles are generally kept in miles for German localisation (except for VERY rare cases), using the German word "Meile". Especially when it's not actually about a physical distance but vibes. We may not use miles to measure anything but we still have expressions like "meilenweit gehen" (to walk for miles, i.e. a very long distance) so it's not like we don't know what a mile is.

  • Nor is it in Germany. I'm very confused why garlic would be necessary to survive cold weather.

  • I'm not going to fundamentally change my opinion just because of what some rando on the interwebz says to get a discussion going.

  • Yeah, that seems to make sense I suppose. Although that makes me wonder if OP thinks they have enough impact to meaningfully influence opinions...

  • It's not like they came out of nowhere. If they were framed as the Rebellion in a dystopian movie, everybody would be cheering for them. Probably asking why the other 98.6% of the population aren't participating.

  • I don't think this is a properly formed question because there's a difference between "not hateful" and "innocent". "Innocent" also needs further qualification - innocent of what?

Also, there are no "unbiased opinion" on anything, that's just not possible.

  • I don't have a license so I may not know wtf I'm talking about but I'm pretty sure where I live cars already have to keep a certain distance proportional to their speed. If they don't and they crash into the car in front of them because the driver had to brake suddenly, the driver in the back is liable. We still get congestion and all that nonsense.

  • Or Blender. Seems like every little update moves menu items around making every guide you look up unusable.

  • Your experiences with these discussions seem to be better than mine, that's all I know.

  • Sure, for fun. Most people starting this kind of discussion seem to be looking for definitive answers though.

  • Quote Wikipedia because I'm lazy:

He is an extra-dimensional being of unknown origin who possesses immeasurable power over time, space, the laws of physics, and reality itself, being capable of altering it to his whim.

    By snapping his fingers.

  • There's numerous characters that can create stuff from thin air. You can't compare power levels across franchises that are very different from one another (Superman vs Goku type stuff barely works).

  • Can do the same and more.

  • Krita

  • It seems unlikely that you think that internet slang is commonly found in conventional books of the past "few thousand years" or even that you think that there simply must be a recent book using this specific feature of internet slang - suggesting that you have some ulterior motive in asking the question. But okay: Do you think that internet slang is commonly found in conventional books of the past "few thousand years" or that there simply must be a recent book using this specific feature of internet slang?

  • You realise that "/s" is barely old enough to drink in some US states, yeah? How about you just say what you're trying to say instead of asking cryptic questions?

  • Unrelated to the topic: news media used to get someone to translate their shit for them so there wouldn't be ambiguity about what the source says. I fucking hate that it's now okay to rely on machine translation and hope for the best. I will not credit them here for noticing that something wasn't entirely clear in their translation, that's the bare minimum.
