she/her, A(u?)DHD, German, sometimes draws nonsense. Likes Doctor Who a normal amount.

  • Alright, I can see you're not actually interested in the conversation we were having.

  • Do you think that might be because it made sense in the context? Because it was relevant to the topic?

  • Cool, thanks for the advice. I find just not using it works fine. Also seems to help with staying on topic in a conversation and not shoving my medical history into everything.

  • Well? What's it saying?

  • We're obviously talking about ideal situations because it is impossible in a normal conversation to acknowledge every single aberration. Regardless, if you learn by looking at the solution and going "i understand", you're doing yourself a disservice.

  • Sure. Most people learn best using variations on task solving.

  • See, a teacher will give you a task to solve, preferably on your own, to teach you a thing. They won't give you a task and the solution so you can look at the solution and go "ah, yes, I understand".

  • Why am I getting the word "prototype"? The spirits are saying "prototype". That mean anything to you?

  • Well, as we just learnt, a doctor did indeed eventually come and see Caesar, I'll give you that.

  • Don't toy with my feelings.

  • Men will literally die of one teeny tiny stab wound instead of go to therapy a doctor.

  • There's only so many spots on a human body that you can stab. Some of them had to take sloppy seconds.

  • Depends on the job and the kid.

When I was in school, at any age, there's no way I could've worked any job and kept up with school work even a bit. Others might be perfectly comfortable doing both.

I don't think there's an easy answer to this. But it's also not like your kid is stuck for life with the job so if they want to start working after school, at whatever age is legal for them to work, I think it's fine to try and see.

Btw, re "work summers during university", is that even still something you can do? I had to work throughout uni because there just aren't any jobs that would've employed me only when I had off. (But this may depend on where you are, idk)

  • I just watched Dredd the other day again and while I had an excellent time with the action, I had indeed forgotten how ultimately uncritical of police it is, apart from hints at some bad apples. We should all be so lucky to be protected and where necessary judged by these fine and for the most part incorruptible women and men.

(I don't know if I'd call the old one superior though)

I should very much hope not (((;ꏿ_ꏿ;)))

  • Someone needs to resurrect William Goldman long enough to finish Buttercup's Baby while Cary Elwes and Robin Wright are still beautiful.

  • He doesn't need to "come back" anywhere to benefit. If he wants to do anything at all in media (write a book, do a con, consult on a show etc), he'd better keep the memory of his connection to Trek alive. If nothing else, if he doesn't want to work at all anymore, at the barest, very least, it gets him positive attention from the internet to portray himself as a friend to other people attached to Trek.

  • He's still attached to the Trek franchise and benefits if in the public's perception his relationship with cast and crew is seen as friendly. He told this story to shape that perception, to make people say, "aw, cute, she wanted him to have her badge, they must be good friends."

  • If they have a history of misremembering and have been called out before, yes. Especially if they're essentially doing PR, like he is doing here.
