  • Silly me, I was under the impression that the purpose of the "vending machine test" was to test whether an AI could autonomously run a vending machine (something that would make sense from an economic standpoint), not whether it could "figure out" it was in a simulation.

  • Any. I watch everything with subtitles, one, because it gives my dopamine-deprived brain more to latch onto, and two, my husband and I belong to those horrible people who'll talk over the movie and would miss half the dialogue if it weren't for subtitles.

    But apart from my personal aberrances, apparently it's becoming more common for people to rely on subtitles because sound editing in general has become worse recently (though I wouldn't know why or what exactly is different now). So you're definitely not the only one.

    My mum does NOT care about the latest exploits of the Doctor in the Tardis or my comic or my progress working on my home server or even about Flerfers' futile attempts to make their worldview conform with reality.

    Vice versa, I don't care about gardening and plant care or university level philosophy and theology or the weather.
