    Finding actual answers or at least able to point me in the right direction is way better than any of the other search engines I’ve tried.

    DDG, Google, Bing, SearchNX, Ecosia, Brave, and probably some more, they just aren’t even in the same ball field for the things I look up personally.

  • No WoW specifically, never played it, but Runescape had that GRIP on my psyche whenever I was younger. Late nights staying up to make sure I was still AFK skilling.

    Now, it seems so dumb to spend so much money on a game that I basically played alone because CoD was the style at the time (and I guess still is), especially since it doesn't feel like I gained anything from it other than a love of the game and its style.

    I had fun though, so I guess it wasn't all in vain?

    Get a cut? Your skin adapts to no longer have that happen. Get shot? You’re now bulletproof. Cancer? Your body adapted before it could even get slightly serious. Muscles that build faster without needing to do much more than lift a heavy weight a few times.

    Saw it in a book called Superhuman way back in the day. Cool concept.

  • While I appreciate the honesty, you are coming off as a jerk.

    This is my first time doing anything like this. I don't normally do anything like this at all. It is a little side thing to have fun learning something new. Most of what you are talking about isn't even something I am remotely aware of.

    I'd be more interested to learn about MediaWiki from you if you hadn't come off as such a jerk. I stated in the body of the post that I'm using it offline and for personal use. I have also just started, again, as stated in the body.

    I appreciate your view, but I recommend coming at a different angle the next time you want to share your knowledge of something you are clearly passionate about.

  • I see! I believe this is my first time ever using anything that needed a database, so I'm not really keen to any downsides of a database structure. It does make sense to keep them simple like that, so I will take that into account if I ever feel like simplifying it!

    There are a few options when creating a new page, markdown, RAW HTML, etc. So to make it easy on myself I've just been using the HTML for easy import of the wikis I'm interested in.

  • Yeah, I noticed that when you choose a format, it's that format or delete and start over with the new format. That would be a neat feature at least, but I can see the troubles of properly reformatting the file into the new format you want. Luckily, I'm just using it for giggles and a little bit of learning! Haha!

  • I'm butchering this, I'm sure, but. As you grow older, time seems to fly by faster because your brain is basically culling similar experiences. That commute to work, that is practically the same 90% of the time, isn't interesting to your brain for it to "save", so that time basically disappears to you.

    I found something that will explain it better than I can. :-P

  • I got a Dell computer that was headed for the dump from someone, installed TrueNAS Scale on it, and it has actually replaced my Synology for everything other than straight up storage. Now the Synology does the storage, and everything else is in TrueNAS. It did take me a few lookups to understand the permissions on TrueNAS, as Synology is much easier to set up in that regard. I like the fine grain permissions controls, sure, but it was definitely not user friendly to a complete noob like Synology was.

  • This is one of those things where I'm actually okay with AI use. I understand a lot of the FOSS community devs don't have a lot of time for such matters, so if this gets it at the very least 90% there, I would consider it a win! (human review being a big bonus, of course!) :-]
