How did refusing to enable genocide work out? Palestine doing okay now? How about the people getting deported from the US and/or thrown into cages? Or the ones who will die because they won't be able to pay for their meds? Or all the other people getting fucked by MAGA. The warm glow of moral purity must be comforting.
Saying Harris was a bad candidate or that the Dems ran a bad campaign is objectively bullshit. When election day came she was second only to Obama in her rise in popularity, and doing it in only a few months is objectively amazing. But Trump's win can't be the fault of people who refused to vote for her because they focused on the Israel/Gaza issue and ignored every other fucking issue, can it? Naw, you were just being ethically pure. And how'd that work out for Palestinians? Really swooped in and saved the day there! I'm sure all the people getting deported would also want to thank you for being so ethical. Way to go! So would everybody who's gonna die because they won't be able to pay for their meds. And the ones who are losing their science jobs. And science itself - science is fucking STOKED that you have such pristine morals. Way to go!!!
The way reality works is that you never get everything you want, and you often have to make the least bad choice available. Refusing to vote so you can maintain your own moral purity makes you the dumbass.
The old school method of learning a programming language, database, framework or whatever was to read books and take classes, do a series of exercises that teach you how to use the features, and the errors you get if you don't do it right. Then you write code that way for like 10-15 years.
The Information Age method is to find some sample code, copypaste into an editor and hit Compile, then paste compile errors into google and fix them until there are no more. Then hit Run and copypaste/fix runtime errors until there are no more runtime errors. Old-schoolers used to call this hacking, but now it's called not having time to deeply learn the hot new thing because before you do you'll have to start over with the next hot new thing.
Still think the important issue is who's "butthurt" eh? That's why the country is doomed. The problem with finding a liberal candidate supported by the base is that memes can't run for President. Just go back to scrolling on your phone and keep telling yourself none of what MAGA is doing is your fault.
edit: I'm gonna expand a little for people who keep saying Harris was a bad candidate who didn't get the support of "the base". She got 75 million fucking votes, Trump just got 2.3 million more. The "base" voted for her just fine, it was the FRINGE who didn't.
I'm really into IoT automation - wiring up Arduino & ESP devices and programming them - but tbh it's hard to think of much to automate IRL. So I haven't automated anything yet. I want a few ourdoor lights to sense motion more elaborately than just having a motion sensor built in - to light up when approached from opposite directions. Also to add switches indoors where I didn't think to put them when I wired the house. So like, have several ESP32 wall switches tell a room light to turn on or off without running new AC lines through the walls. That would be super useful. Another one is subtle night lighting on stairways for safety, so my eventual cause of death isn't falling downstairs after tripping on a cat.
My pattern is that when I finally give up looking for something and make a definite decision to replace it or make do with something else, within a couple seconds I randomly look right at whatever I was searching for. It happens so consistently I'm sure it's a brain pattern. My theory is that part of me knows where the thing is but doesn't let the information rise to my consciousness because the search is a fun game. Then when I sincerely decide to quit looking, the game is over so there's no point hiding it anymore.
