  • Yeah trees are assholes. They always ring my doorbell trying to sell me the book of Gaia. Constantly telling me "you can't smoke here, sir". There's a tree behind my house who constantly wears the same glasses as me. Whenever I buy new ones, a day later this tree has the same. He's constantly mocking me for no reason.

    I think all trees should be cut down and burned. Algae never complain, are always kind and always say "good day sir" when you walk by.

    People are not inspired to care for their environment, they can watch them in a zoo or aquarium and they don't want to eat less meat/fish and stop ordering junk on Temu.

    Some endangered animals can be protected in captivity, which is dumb because we are the reason they are endangered in the first place, but stop putting them on display. Just like the humans species, other animals also do not belong in cages.

    Or do they mean that Meta, X and Google are producing cigarettes like tobacco companies are doing right now, like with filters or that they are putting warning labels on their products? Because I haven't seen any warning labels or Google cigarettes.

    The title is very confusing.

    Although I do think Google, X and Meta should have at least 75% of their banner state their platforms are brainrot and spreads misinformation. You know, like modern day tobacco companies have to warn for the risks of using their junk.

  • Yeah but traditional nuclear power can be with much less waste which has a much shorter half life if we recycle the waste, is my point. Less than 100 years instead of thousands. But the recycling process which dates from the 70's is banned because the process also provides a tiny bit of enriched uranium.

    So I'm not against traditional nuclear power, I think we can do much better if we recycle, plus Thorium reactors are a good addition.

  • We need to store the waste for thousands of years. This is bad. We are able to recycle the waste for more power but we're not allowed to because it produces a tiny bit enriched uranium and that's not allowed by the pact the US and Russia made. But recycling waste is tech from the 70's and it can reduce the half life of 100.000 years to 100 years.

    Thorium however, is a different story. It doesn't work with gamma radiation but with alpha radiation. Alpha radiation is the most dangerous form of radiation, but it doesn't go far and doesn't go through many things. You can contain it with a piece of paper. Gamma radiation is the least harmful form of radiation but the big issue is it goes really far and goes through almost anything.

    So waste from a Thorium reactor is much less harmful, easy to contain, also has a very short half life (I don't know how long but it's really short, as in several years) so Thorium really is awesome. Thorium is also a waste product of many other mining operations so it's already a form of recycling. The downside of a Thorium reactor is that it's far more complex than the reactors we know so it's very hard and expensive to build, more than a regular reactor. So it will cost a lot, takes a long time, but it's an extremily safe and wise investment.

  • German and Dutch (my native language) are similar systems. Still weird imo, naming the numbers in the wrong sequence: 32 is "two and thirty" instead of "thirty two".

    Check out the system of Denmark. French looks rather normal after seeing the Danish.

  • Yeah, no issue with counting to 10. The rest however... Im really bad in learning languages, I've had German and French in school for 13 years yet I can't speak either. I know English besides Dutch because of the internet and subtitles on TV. I wanted to learn languages like Norwegian, Latin and Russian but I gave up because I just don't remember words that well. Same with history, I remember stories but can't remember dates. I'm better at logic, like math and chemistry. But at least I know how to order up to 10 beers in multiple languages.
