  • They should just grant all farms/businesses the ability to place premium processing for an i-140 for all of their workers who don't currently have citizenship under category EB-3 for free. Halt deportations and spend the money on professing those requests for 90 days. Then re-evaluate how much money that saved them, how much money it makes the country in taxes, and maybee realize they should have been encouraging all companies to sponsor their employees before this, and re-evaluate what they count as qualified. A not priority i-140 is standardly is $715 and takes like 8 months.

    They could tell employees, if you need a sponsor we will pay you $1 less an hour for 8 months and pay the cost for you, and once the 8 months are up you will get a $1 raise. The company would actually make money doing so.

  • Had a VP that was the head of IT at one point that used to tell a story how he took the whole company down on his first day. He was a disciplined person as well. (Was in the British Royal Navy, then later the U.S. Navy). They were in the middle of moving a lot of their services over and had a 3rd party company contracted to install some kind of new switches if I remember correctly. They set it all up, left him with the information and contact info I guess for assisting whoever was going to managing them. Well he apparently tried to log into one and managed to factory reset it somehow on accident. No idea how he did that on accident. But the company managed things from the Virgin Islands to North Carolina all the way west to Texas. It was corporate headquarters, so... No paychecks for thousands of employees across 100+ sites and the whole 9 yards. Thankfully a quick fix once so everything was back up the next day, but that's how you make a good first impression.

    Still no idea why they had a 3rd party installing those switches though... Definitely something we managed in house by the time I got there

  • That's the ticket. Worked in Tempe for 3 weeks. Come non work nights I was wondering what I should do, so if I was tired Id pop some edibles, laugh at a movie for a bit, wake up with munchies and get breakfast, then go back to bed until afternoon.

    Didn't want to spend much time outside when it was daylight anyways. Sun starts to go down, find a dive bar or something.

  • That's false. 48 states held a democratic primary. Only Delaware and Florida didn't. Biden won something like 87% of the vote, it was a landslide. Then he stepped down and put his VP in. Had someone else won those 48 states, Harris would have never been on the ballot. If they did hold a vote in Delaware (Biden's home state) and Florida, the results would be the same.

  • Knock down drag out fight ends the same way in the same amount of time. Noem got 50 Republican senators that voted for her. That's an automatic win for her unless Vance went against Trump's pick.

    They only need 51 if there are 50 against, and there wasn't, some Republicans sat out as well. In the end they are dumbasses for bitching but their efforts wouldn't change the vote with her

  • Basic premise though was crude oil sells at $75 per barrell, the US averaged 4.5 million Barrells a day in 2024 (exports). If the cost per barrel dropped to $65 a barrell that's a $16.5 billion dollars lost per year. That's 66x the amount of money Elon spent to assist Trump in winning the election.

    So it makes sense to pay millions or a few hundred million from oil executives to ensure oil prices stay where they are.

  • Okay, so it would be near (possibly already) impossible to develop another party in the U.S. and get members inserted in enough states to be on the ballot for the U.S. presidency if there is a vote in 2028. It is possible to vote every member of the congress out by 2028. (Not quite all of the Senate, statistically 2/3rds).

    So which is easier to do, make a new party and split the progressives from the centrists and give a guaranteed win to the Republicans, or vote in progressive Congress/Senators and ensure people vote in the primaries to not allow the less progressive ones be the only members on the ballot.

    That said. If you believe there won't be a legitimate vote again, then there is no reason to even think about democrats at this point. They haven't controlled Congress since 2009 and Shumer is considered progressive by no one. (He can be voted out in 2028 as well if people show up to primaries).

    Whichever president/VP came in would place the new executive branch positions. Then the issue is just the courts.

  • Half of it is still about oil. Saudi Arabia has mass amounts of oil and fewer people. Iran has more people and a decent (but less) amount of oil. For years Iran has been trying to sell off their oil at cheaper prices in mass to force money into their economy. Some may argue it's to raise the quality of living for the people, others may argue it's because they believe the oil will do them no good 100 years from now so selling it all off and raking in what money they can now will only help them. Saudi Arabia has money, just doesn't distribute it evenly, and their profit margins would be hurt by prices being driven down. Other countries like the U.S. also would struggle to complete in selling oil at lower prices as our lifting costs are higher. So oil companies selling out of the US and around the world benefit greatly from Iran not selling off their oil at lower costs. (It's less than 1/2 to 1/3 the cost for Iran the lift the oil). So the U.S. stays friends with Saudi Arabia and tries to stop other countries from lowering their prices.

  • One I haven't seen here yet. If your battery dies, you can usually get the car rolling (neutral with people pushing, or turn down a small hill) and once moving a bit you can throw it straight into second gear and hit the gas and it should cause the car to start and you can drive it to a destination to replace the battery (or just let it charge the battery if you left the headlights or interior lights or such on and let it die on accident). No second car/jumper cables required.
