    I haven't tried it with many foods, but you can very much get the flavor doing such. Texture is usually the issue but 3d printing must already be compensating for texture somehow

    But really to me it's how your body responds to something with saliva.

    Something salty you salivate, sour you salivate, umami you salivate but how quickly, how much, and how long vary based upon the sensation.

    Umami basically means you salivate slowly for a long time which helps your stomach get ready to break down proteins apparently.

  • As a non expert, I would assume disrupting supply routes would decrease purity. If what you did made them use slower boats and take different routes there would have been less supply and same demand right? Aka more reasons for people to cut it until supply got back up.

    So really this tells me it's more likely that they didn't disrupt any supply of cocaine, and may have hit normal civilians or someone with marijuana as I remember someone reported bags of weed washing up on a beach..

  • Yeah I'm fairly sure they just rebuilt the whole thing, but also the AI portion of it is all done through its partnership with Google.

    So Apple mostly was focusing on keeping the indexing locally on the phone and trying to not get it sent back to Google, but who knows if it'll work.

    Obviously all AI requests still going to Google, but in supposedly the scanning of your local documents/data isn't.

    (This was discussed in the Devlopers keynote, where they openly stated "you know how you would search for things in mail or elsewhere and it just wouldn't show up when you knew it's there, us too..." Paraphrasing but yeah, they started over with how it indexes ALL of your data apparently)

  • It isn't a big thing in the Southast U.S. I used to get reminded of it every time I flew into JFK or got a dollar slice somewhere in NYC. It seemed many of them used to have a fridge that was just Snapple or water, but it's been years since I've been up there. I doubt dollar slices even exist now : /

  • Ah so the old machines weren't working properly before the move. Gotcha. In my experience Mint has been good at using its defaults to get WIFI working. Hell I probably would have skipped over dealing with the track pad and just plugged a mouse in and let Mint fix that part after. I have been running into the problem that all those mice laying around are USB A, and laptops now seem to have moved completely away from adding one.

  • I don't seem to understand what you are saying here. So you installed Mint and were transferring data to Mint from Windows, why would you need to run updates on the old systems at all? I would have imagined you'd just spin up a samba share from Mint and copy the data to it. (Or just use an external drive).

    To achieve the first one though my first step would have been to launch terminal on Mint, and install samba (that likely does exist as a GUI install in software manager though)

  • As a Linux user, horseshit. windows 11 is better for 90% of users than Linux is and anyone who says otherwise is lying out their ass. If a single thing you need to do is from terminal 90% of users will think your product is shit. Why? Because it's not designed for them. I've used ~7 distros over the last 10 years. None of them has something that can compare to the app store, play store, or even the Microsoft store. We use Linux because we like ___. The majority use primary aimed at them OS's because it is aimed at them, and does it in a way that is easier for them.

    They spend millions making sure that "I'm not sure" step can be done with a GUI menu.

  • Is it just for local usage on their network or will their be remote access via the internet? What OS are they installing on? Are they familiar with installing the OS?

    In my experience Jellyfin is an easy install and easy to manage.

    I run a few servers on an old laptop and I've messed up some random other shit on the laptop then wiped it one time, moved to another OS one time, moved to another machine another time. So I've setup Jellyfin I think 4 times now.

    Overall it's pretty easy in my opinion.

    1. Find your ip- ifconfig

    2.Log into router and reserve that IP so it stays with the device. (This will vary by internet service provider, if unsure look at the gateway you found in the last step, if it says 192.168.1.254 or such, that's it)

    1. If using it local punch a firewall hole for 8096 so you can get to it from say your Android/Roku TV, LG TV, phone, computer, whatever.

    (Standardly something like: sudo ufw allow 8096)

    If you like using docker like many do then you may prefer to do it in a container.

    Anyways that should bring it up. Then go to http://the.ip.address.found:8096/ and go into the dashboard to set up users, pick what access they have.

    Also where you'll set up the libraries, so say "Movies" and point it to where you store them.. you can point it to multiple directories

    Oh and if a laptop change the close lid settings to keep machine on when plugged in and lid closed. Set all power settings to not go to sleep.

    On an aside I set my VPN up as a split tunnel, easy, just Google your VPN and split tunnel, should only take a few clicks. I set qbittorrent and firefox traffic to go through the VPN, then I have everything else stay on local network.

    I install Rustdesk on my phone and laptop, then remotely access the device wherever I'm at. Use the search function in qbittorrent, tell it to download sequentially, and download to the movies directory I want, launch the jellyfin app on my phone, hold my finger down on the movies folder, tell it to refresh meta-data and then launch the jellyfin fin app on one of the tvs.

    Some time from "do you want to watch ____" to starting to watch it is ~3 minutes. If the movie downloads faster than you watch it, should have no hiccups

    Everything you mentioned in the first chunk has nothing to do with capitalism either.

    "Lip service to be Controlled by the masses" is exactly what the U.S. has been the entire time.

    It doesn't matter if we voted in new representatives monthly, yearly, every decade. The one main thing that makes a society capitalistic is private ownership of the means of production. So unless France, England, the U.S. or etc voted to ban private ownership of those means (which hasn't happened) they have come no closer to getting rid of capitalism.
