If full time Walmart employees need government assistance programs to afford food and pay their rent, is it not Walmart who is leaning on government assistance?

  • Coupled with the local resources drain is the legal drain when ICE's budget is used to fight every single charge and impose maximum delay of justice. That much money can inflict a lot of damage on judge's time, the local attorney's time, and result in temporary rulings that have a silencing effect. They cannot hire enough people to spend all the money they received, so they're draining it via corruption, contracts they don't need, bribing local police units, and legal representation.

  • On the one hand, states do need a kick in the ass to remind them that arresting federal agents for wrongdoing is in fact a good thing. On the other, cops are pretty bad at policing their own internally, let alone other units. Even if they're competent in their attempts to maintain a presence, it will be a massive drain on local resources. I feel like any police presence will need to come with full support of a states attorney general to recoup money spent from fed.

  • The only way to befriend him is unlimited money and cruelty. This is why he's fully in the pocket of Israel. Since those are his interests, maybe giving him unlimited civil liability and more bullying may move the needle. Being pro-genocide shouldn't be the easy position to take anywhere. More ridicule of him on the streets should help.

  • He is the most logical pick to replace Platner and the DNC would have preferred multiple other people before Jackson. I think it's the best shot around so it's weird why any leftist would have an issue with the pick.

    It's interesting though that a life in politics and a life outside politics both tend to come with baggage of different sorts. Bernie being the main exception among people who largely got on board with gay rights in the 90s or early 2000s. Bernie was always on board.

  • Not really something smart so much as something consistent. I think there are far too many people with no introspection on their harmful views as it is, and AI confirming their biases is inherently dangerous. Especially because the default tone they chose for every model appears to be picked to speak directly to this specific type of person in the exact way it shouldn't.

  • Serious as viewed from GameStop's perspective, and maybe even just one man at the top. eBay has already said their offer is not remotely attractive to them. I think their current CEO unfortunately thinks the only way to run a business is to create controversy. I hope they didn't take the wrong lesson from the Gamestop stock rally, but it seems at least one person did.

  • The last I heard about mod removals the admins wanted no responsibility to implement it. I don't see the other mods rallying to a removal when the admins won't say one way or the other. I personally find at least 90% agreement with other mod actions and I'm less senior, so it's not really for me to make a stink, unlike the admins if they so choose imo. As far Jordan specifically, I get along with him personally and also see instances where speaking as a mod wasn't the best look. It's minor imo when we're just told to enforce rules, not some undefined etiquette. We'll all naturally do this differently from each other with no specifics given, so the standard falls back (without admin input) on following the rules ourselves. If you feel any comment breaks the rules the report it. We do not resolve reports related to our own names and conversations.

    Bearing on USA systems is that this is US Politics and VPNs aren't supported on .world. I don't suspect the community would prosper under a blacklisting scenario.

    Looks like it's a little more complicated. It is illegal, but they're doing it anyways before the courts rule on an explicit rule being broken. Their excuse isn't very good either, so it'd be a pretty transparent loss of faith in the courts to authorize it. Probably just making them to give their buddies to show off what they can get away with.

The only policy Stevens has specifics on are related to Israel. Surely the boost isn't because of the transparent Netanyahu scapegoat that liberals are spinning up... It probably is.

  • Unfortunately I do not. Project Farm and TTC are the best long form tool reviewers right now. Consumer Reports might be more your speed, but I think videos allow for more independence since it's a more profitable medium. These video channels are able to spend thousands per video because they're family friendly and rack up hundreds of thousands of views daily.
