  • Literally my exact story with some Minor details.

Standing at bus stop, arms crossed, staring into distance, 15 minute wait

Watched the fucker fly from across the street, land on my arm, sting me, fly away

  • It baffles me that people haven't realized that fast food is the cigarettes of our generation. Or many people actually do get it, but choose cognitive dissonance because yummy.

  • Fuck dude lol

I mean... so damned true. People going to mcdonalds because they're seeking (or effectively addicted to) the hyper-engineered food-ingredient-based hot candy... and just delusional about the entire operation and their role in it.

  • One of my most baffling social nights was being invited to poker night at the home of a bunch of Jehovah's Witnesses. My buddy had married one (that's a whole different kettle of fish, set that to the side for now lol) and that's how I came along for card night.

So anyways... there's no gambling allowed... so the deal was everybody put in $20 dollars and whoever "won" was awarded the trophy. To keep it totally in God's hands and not humans gambling, the poker game's River card would mutate all cards with the same value to Wild cards. So no matter how shitty anybody played or what anybody did, the outcome was quasi-random. Then once everybody had all the chips, they were awarded the trophy. The trophy was a 40oz bottle of whiskey. Which Jehovah's are not allowed to drink. But don't worry, it was agreed beforehand nobody would actually drink it, it's a damned trophy for crying out loud!

Also we were not allowed (per JW rules) to be socializing in the first place. Also there was rock music in the background while we played which is not allowed. And the JWs would individually disappear to the laundry room to make their pop-only drinks with whatever (pop only!) products each person brought to the gathering in a zippered gym bag.

I mean. Yeah. It was so fucking weird man.

  • What do you get if you cross a rhinoceros and an elephant?

    'ellephino

  • I don't even know anymore

  • Like really? Nobody could see this coming? Nobody could see that corporations are parasites enriching themselves off others' struggles?

This is legitimately a good thing in the long term, hopefully it will allow people to refocus, and take back their pursuit of justice and equality in this society.

I never watch what companies say, I watch what they do, and I will always factor that behavior into my purchasing decisions.

  • It's not possible, period.

  • Dude you're not hitting 80 WPM with pokey-poke

I worked with a dude that insisted his speed was insane and when we tested him and took errors into account, the actual WPM was more like 15.

E: anybody who doubts this, please recall that a word is five character average, so 80 words per minute, including shift, capitals, punctuation, numerals, means this person is hitting over 400+ Keys a minute... 7 Keys a second. Ain't going to happen with two fingers lmao... You can put your fingers on a desk, no keyboard, and you wouldn't be able to strike the desk 400+ times a minute with your fingertips. Pure delusion.

  • I've got a Pixel 9 and at the first opportunity this piece of shit is being skipped into the river like a flat stone.

  • Indigenous people in Canada believe a giant Sasquatch creature called Sabe is real. Really real. Give me a fucking break guys.

E: oh what, you think that indigenous people are special and deserve some kind of kid gloves for their idiotic superstitious beliefs? It's in every culture, stop being racist.

  • Start learning how and where to ask for help.

What I mean is that you're going to have a lot of unmet needs, and you'll need others to help boost you up. Many of us live like we are islands, but the reality is people support people. But only when you are specifically able to ask for the help you need in clear language. And that is a skill that takes time to develop.

  • One of my policies to make this place less insufferable, is to block people who behave in ways that I object to.

For example if somebody shows up in a Windows thread, and just types in "Linux!" I'm blocking that person. Add something germane or novel or fuck right the fuck off, that's my attitude.

  • Chinese were very diligent skywatchers and catalogued much history, there was record of a "guest star" supernova being witnessed before the star blinked out of existence. And recently astronomers observed a star in Andromeda collapse into a black hole.

  • 100%

The plan was just to keep throwing money until they trampled the ecosystem and came out on top, well this didn't work for shit.

  • Bad logic on "profit is profit".

    Opportunity cost is huge here.

  • I think it's a huge aspect. Reviews, guides, discussions, bug reports all falls under the "social" category.

E: oh and a friend's list where you can quickly join up via "game invites", and game leaderboards which have friend rankings... Steam workshop... Those are also big social features

  • Its also that EGS is terrible.

The most recent "feature" they added that made a difference, was the ability to view my own library.

8(?) Years after launch it still operates like a prototype I'd cobble together in an afternoon

  • 8k is effectively dead
