  • Haha, true. Soon as you leave, point all the weird shit out with the people you’re with, ‘did you see __?’

  • I can see Zelensky smiling, but I’m pretty sure it’s like the Veep ‘what the fuck’ clip. Just nod and smile friend.

Edit: also, that’s a bookcase filled with hats instead of books. Telling, even if it’s telling us things we already knew.

  • link to an MSN article that has the video, since the only other embeds I can find are twitter links right now.

Basically, some WH press pool lady from foxnews gave the rundown of the event right after it happened. Her blunt summation of the event was ‘it was not good, it did not feel like things went well, it seems Putin came in and Steamrolled, got his photo and left.’ She then immediately rips into the fact that the US is the host nation and yet Putin came up to the podium and spoke first, in russian, which is just not how it happens. Basically laid out that even Trump’s friendly network realized just how fucked this situation was.

For the other part of my comment about them getting chewed out, she wasn’t involved in that, but at least one reporter mentioned the admin folks (leavitt et al) as leaving the behind closed doors meeting with ashen faces; meaning whatever we didn’t see was worse than having a foreign dictator come in and publicly flaunt all diplomatic norms while our president paced the red carpet like a dog.

  • Yep. Everyone in that room was owned, but didn’t think much of what that meant until then. That one report by the fox news lady right afterwards was blunt as hell when describing the whole situation. ‘It was not good.’

  • I’ll never forget when my dad, who absentee votes by mail in NC, explaining to me that statewide voting by mail is dangerous. No actual claim of anything, just random shit like ‘how do they know where to send the ballots?’ After spending like 20 minutes describing how simple Oregon vote by mail is, as well as safeguards, and he still just couldn’t get it. Which is how so much misinformation is spread. Covid was the same way. There is so much ‘I don’t know how a thing works, so that means no one knows how this thing works’ in this country that it hurts my head.

  • I believe the OP was referring more to consumers of ai in the statement, as opposed to people trying to sell content or whatever, which would be more in line with what you’re saying. I agree with both perspectives and I think the Op i quoted probably would as well. I just thought it was a good description of some of the why ai sucks, but certainly nit all of it.

  • Someone on bluesky reposted this image from user @yeetkunedo that I find describes (one aspect of) my disdain for AI.

Text reads: Generative Al is being marketed as a tool designed to reduce or eliminate the need for developed, cognitive skillsets. It uses the work of others to simulate human output, except that it lacks grasp of nuance, contains grievous errors, and ultimately serves the goal of human beings being neurologically weaker due to the promise of the machine being better equipped than the humans using it would ever exert the effort to be. The people that use generative Al for art have no interest in being an artist; they simply want product to consume and forget about when the next piece of product goes by their eyes. The people that use generative Al to make music have no interest in being a musician; they simply want a machine to make them something to listen to until they get bored and want the machine to make some other disposable slop for them to pass the time with.

The people that use generative Al to write things for them have no interest in writing. The people that use generative Al to find factoids have no interest in actual facts. The people that use generative Al to socialize have no interest in actual socialization.

In every case, they've handed over the cognitive load of developing a necessary, creative human skillset to a machine that promises to ease the sweat equity cost of struggle. Using generative Al is like asking a machine to lift weights on your behalf and then calling yourself a bodybuilder when it's done with the reps. You build nothing in terms of muscle, you are not stronger, you are not faster, you are not in better shape. You're just deluding yourself while experiencing a slow decline due to self-inflicted atrophy.

  • Also, water. We’ll take all of that please, just pipe it right over to our spot in the desert. We’ll need some more money with that, of course.

  • Haha, I used the comma to take out the question mark. Its like I before E except after always.

  • Haha, yeah I figured it out before posting, probably phrased the post a little odd so it seems like I’m still asking what it is. I appreciate it though.

  • Haha, yeah I figured it out before posting, just felt hella dumb.

  • My dumbass when I first read it- what does ODD stand for, haven’t heard of that one. I’m still making my coffee this morning.

Edit- I’m aware of what it means, just had a brainfart when I first read it and tried to convey that. I appreciate the help anyways haha.

  • Absolutely true, although this is still a pretty big slap in the face of it.

  • Simply having him as a guest on American soil has us already played for fools. He has an ICJ arrest warrant issued against him. That warrant/court appears to have less authority by the day unfortunately, but it would be like inviting the taliban to Camp David. So tired.

  • Dude is going to surrender Ukraine and claim to be a peacemaker, while sweetening the deal with a chunk of Alaska.

  • He wants them to be destroyed so no one can force him to turn them back on like the hurricane satellites.

  • Same. That bs excuse of Jeffries not endorsing him, ‘I live 10 miles outside the city, y’all figure out your politics,’ was just trash. Not nearly as bad as others (gillibrand and the former gov, forget his name especially), but come on man.

  • Checks out, he’s been on the wrong side of things a bunch post-Superman… He’s probably gonna make a small pile of money as a spokesman or part of some deranged reality show.

  • First time I’ve ever believed anything she said.
