Founder of European Graphic Novels, Aug '23 on Lemm.ee. Still going strong, now on PieFed. :D

I prefer to lean friendly & understanding, yet as someone dealing with a terminal disease, I'll admit that irritability can happen fast. Eh, nous faisons ce que nous pouvons. 🙄

  • I think it works when you consider two things-- 1) that this is a 'throwaway side-project' for Bolling, whose juggernaut of course is Tom the Dancing Bug, and 2) that like Heathcliff and various others, it's an intentional subversion of the 'classic comics format,' and regularly experiments with ways in which to unfold panels & mine humor.

  • It's Deathbulge by BeetleMoses. Excellent!

  • It's an exotic feast at House Flanders!

  • Ah, okay. It's selectively appearing. I get it, thanks.

Some other info is suggesting that F9 can also work.

  • Huh. I never heard that one.Or maybe because it was a case of rubbish in-->rubbish out? shrug*

    So, no... I wasn't fucking kidding. 🙂

  • Aw... FF browser doesn't seem to have a reader mode, but there is some kind of 'preview mode' that I'm now checking out. It seems to generate bullet-points from the text...

  • uMatrix absolutely did not solve that for me, mainly because unlike others, it was never designed to do that automatically. Fact is, I simply got tired of fishing around for the right javascript out of ~two dozen to enable.

Now if it was more than just a fluff article, that might have been worth such persistence...

  • That website is a pile of toxic javascripts that I'm not willing to navigate, but I'm vaguely curious what kind of spin or context Hokit was trying to add. I could actually see it as some kind of bumbling compliment, but my confidence isn't super-high on that for the time being.

Btw, that fight he just had looked abysmal, with his opponent Derrick Lewis looking like he completely skipped training camp, but did make to sure to hit an all-you-can-eat buffet on his way there. Holy hell, that was bad...

  • Feel free to hate, but I've found that GPT is often pretty useful at nuanced searches like this. More context is absolutely needed as others have expressed, but according to that LLM, some working candidates might be:

Carrie Fisher, Drew Barrymore, Mackenzie Phillips, Tatum O'Neal and Melanie Griffith.

  • Banh mi

  • One of the things I miss about living on the East Coast was the plentitude of Asian shops, little groceries, and of course, the loverly H-Mart supermarket. I used to get banh mi takeout on a regular basis, in which the 'meat' was typically prepared tofu. (baked? fried? I don't remember)

The prices were usually incredibly low at almost all these places, too, which rewarded constant experimentation.

That bread looks nice and crusty, btw. That there's the bomb, for me.

  • I think you're mostly in the ballpark (mostly), but it's still highly misleading to associate so loosely and lazily. I mean, you have entities and corporations in which the founders truly are fascist / deeply right-wing, and it's worth calling them out and making that clear to as many folks as possible.

Disingenuously calling Substack "fascist" because it allows wacko subgroups to operate is the exact same argument you could make about Reddit, Facebook, and several others. It doesn't necessarily mean that the founders and showrunners are in fact fascists by definition, even as yes, the real-world definition of fascism and late-stage capitalism are indeed deeply intertwined.

So, no-- I reject the commenter above's disingenuous label. And a big part of the reason why we use words and language is to point out subtle differences in things. Because we don't have to be cavemen who lump disparate things together out of ignorance, fear, and whatnot.

  • Great low-key, peaceful, inspiring song.OMG, Macca had song-range that other people would kill for, across any number of genres and stylings.

Seriously, it should NOT BE POSSIBLE for someone to come up with such a wide-range of song & performance material like McCartney did. Ma dudes... It is plainly and unbelievably Miraculous.

Haha, and look at me-- with a gargantuan song-crush upon Mssr Lennon!

  • Thanks.

In any case, that's not NAZI-ism, but simply late-stage capitalism at work. They have no shame, honor, morality, or genuine human concern... it's simply about the money, like loads of other places, sadly.

  • Substack, the Nazi platform?

Could you explain what you mean by that?

  • Most of them can't, but you can judge that for yourself. (link above)

  • Well that was weird, gross, and unexpected.

    Congratulations, you win! :D

  • Good points. My mind was certainly in 'dumpling mindset,' there.

  • That explains it then
