But yeah quieting the mind to read faster and faster to keep up with that exercise and not scanning the whole word takes more practice for me.

    I despise the digital billboards that now litter highways and roads that gets congested during rush hours. And especially at night when they just ignore brightness laws and blinding everyone and endangering drivers.

    Here in south east Asia, it's fine to eat sticky rice, coconut milk, some kind of sugar (palm sugar most of the time) and durian.

    My family just use normal rice and that got me a few looks when I mention it.

  • This is my choice as well. I like Niagara but the different way they do widgets I just can never get. KISS launcher is being true to its namesake, and I like most of it.

    Kvaesitso is like a mixture of both to me. It doesn't have the notification style of Niagara, but it's simple in a different flavor to both Niagara and KISS.

    I can get a clean home page like KISS with just a clock widget.

    Swipe left and I get the app drawer with search bar focused (you can turn it off). On top of the drawer you can pin favorite apps and even shortcuts, as well as let it populate with your most used apps automatically.

    Swipe up from home you get a dedicated vertically scrolling widget page. The built in default widgets are useful but it's easy to add more. Downside is the widgets only stack vertically.

    I'm just a bit irritated with the gestures to open the notification panel and quick access tiles because it uses accessibility system, and that freaks my bank apps to no end.

  • CachyOS is what I'll be jumping to. Thanks to the stupid hardware price surge, my initial plan of just buying a new stick of SSD and a bigger HDD for stuff for the move is not viable anymore. So it just takes a while because I'm making sure all the personal data I have on my only stick of SSD still running W10 is safely copied off of it. Not a lot can be done with my current NTFS formated HDD unless I want to gamble with my personal data doing partition magic (I don't want to gamble).

    I'd like to think jumping to an arch based distro with guardrails will help me learn linux safely. I'd have the cachy and arch wiki and forum to learn from.

  • I stayed permanently since middle of last year thanks to piefed.social. it has a great onboarding system for anyone that might not have the gumption or will to self curate raw lemmy, mbin and now piefed outputs. A.k.a being lazy like myself.

    Although for my close online friends I'm likely to suggest other piefed based instance just because tobspread the load around.

    It feels like reddit back when it was smaller and before the abhorrent new UI and their aggressive algorithm. Well we all know the fediverse is practically without algorithm for good and bad.

    So with this view it semi forced me to be more active in the communities I'm in. I mostly comment though rather than making posts but hey any little thing helps.

    And besides I just love piefed has topics i.e. multireddit a.k.a a group feed of multiple communites, where I either I can subscribe to premade topics by the instance admin or make my own grouping of topics/communities.

    I still to my chagrin dip back to reddit for some communities or topics but it's none of the big ones. Things like psychotic people that has way too many x (bags, retro games handheld devices, headphones, fountain oens, paper notebooks, ereaders, knives, pocket trash, etc) and spending way too much money on them.
