  • Talk to some of the people that run the small web.

I ran into an issue at work with a few FOSS projects that were blocking our cloud proxy service. I messaged one of their admins on IRC for the scoop...

Turns out it was because too many of their (the cloud proxy) customers were setting out ai agents and scraping their websites, constantly. They can't keep up with the "demand" on their limited budget while also keeping up with free software philosophies.

I read a great article about this the other day...on my work computer. Its too much of a pain in the ass for me to pull up.

Something will have to give. It's a bit ironic, though, that free software is being stifled because it is too free. It's almost like a corollary for the tolerance paradox.

  • Trump, 80, dropped

    🍿🍆 Yes...yes.....

to 32 percent approval in a Quinnipiac survey released last week.

    🔵🔵

  • I thought you were going a whole different way with that first line.

  • There's a non-binary 1st grade teacher in my kids school. Neither of my kids had them, but apparently they are the most loved teacher in the school.

What I find more concerning is that the only male faculty and staff is the gym teacher and custodians. What message does that give to the kids?

  • There are more people eating sharks than there are sharks eating people.

We are in their territory. We get to be apex predator in land. They get to be apex predator in sea. This is an agreement we've had for a long time.

  • TS5 had its moments.

Best use of toilet humor in any Disney/Pixar film ever, for sure.

  • That's bond.

That's not the price on his freedom forever. That's the deposit for getting to have freedom while awaiting trial.

  • That could incentivize arson...

  • Republicans are very much "rules are for thee, rights are for me" folk. Like they studied politics under the Trix rabbit.

  • Tbf Taron makes an excellent Elton.

I gotta wonder if his role as Johnny (the gorilla) in Sing is what led to him as Elton in Rocket Man.

  • Is Elton John hosting Carpool Karaoke now?

  • Lol you won't even get a reach-around from a Republican, let alone a reach-across.

  • YARP.

  • Andd if there's one thing billionaires love, it's gold. And if there's two things, it's gold and yachts.

But if it's three things, it's gold, yachts, and torturing miners.

  • You know who gets rich in a gold rush? The guy making the picks.

  • You're really dismissing the reality that the biggest reason dems didn't show was because the troll farms and their disinformation/amplofication worked.

Or do you just not understand? Because that's fine too. That just means it worked on you.

Let me clarify. They didn't just hype up the red guy. They also drowned out the blue gal. A lot of the "both sides" talk, all of the "but muh genocide" abstaining voters...some, sure, were real, but most of those that were, were pushed there by the bot farms.

Propaganda isn't just glorifying the leader. The other real important part is inhibiting the opposition.

They all knew, and continue to know, that they didn't have to get people to vote for Trump. That's a fools errand. Most everybodies mind was made up about him well the elections.

But keeping people from voting for Harris is just as effective. Because ultimately the winner has to be one of the two parties. We can hem and haw all we want about the need for third parties (and that's totally true), but the fact is that it will always be a two party system until the voting system get fixed, and it will always be the same two parties until one inevitably implodes on itself and re-brands. Republicans are very much aware that the easiest way to win isn't to attract voters, but to disuade people who vote against them.

They gave up the honey a long time ago, and they've gone all-in on vinegar.

  • Let's stick to reality tho...neither did Republicans. Troll farms did, and people bought it hook, line, and sinker.

  • I saw the 2017 eclipse from Greenville Zoo.

The zoo was meh but the animals were going nuts as we approached totality, so that was cool.

Also there was a guy on the phone at the concession stand with somebody, and he was (very loudly, like straight out of trigger-happy tv) trying to tell them he was in the food line and asking if they wanted anything, but through his accent and the connection, the other party thought he was saying "Food Lion", a regional grocery chain in the area. Hilarity ensued. So that'll stick with me for a while.

Also at the Food Lion I got Cheerwine which I never had before. That's pretty good too.

Oh and I was visibly very hot and some stranger offered me a "coo rag". I'd never heard of them at the time, but was very put off by the offer. I later realized he was saying "cool rag" (which I also never heard of before, but now swear by). That'll also stick with me for a while. But points for hospitality? That mightve been in Charlotte tho.
