  • Okay, so in theory if I had a beefier card I'd need to use two cables, one going to 12v3 and another to 12v4? If that's the case I might wire it up like that just in case I ever decide to upgrade and I lose the cables or something.

  • The brand I am using is yeesterpaste. It was at microcenter. It has a little practice pad which was helpful. Turns out my gut feeling was not quite enough. But I may have been a little over zealous with the real one lol.

  • Thanks! It probably looks odd because of the lighting and angle. My room has an overhead light that's to the right, but I was using a magnetic flashlight to help on the left. Also, this is through a mesh panel. I think you can sort of tell if you look at the black heat sink (not the CPU one). It sort of gives a pattern over the image, but it's so out of focus you can't see it.

  • So many things about the site sound great on paper. Like Meta? Amazing! But they never listen. I remember when they took Interpersonal.SE off of the Hot Network Questions list over a damn tweet somebody made. Apparently random tweets get more attention than posts in their dedicated community discussion location.

    And I still am angry about them dragging Monica through the mud.

  • Unless there is additional context like how to communicate with the outside world there's not really reason to change anything. Even if the life I love and the bonds I've created are "fake" it doesn't mean they're not worthwhile.

    But if it's something like the controllers of the simulation are actively making things worse or refusing to improve things then that's different.

  • I stopped asking questions there because I usually spend about twenty to thirty minutes writing them to make sure they're clear and not duplicates. I take time to explain why they aren't duplicates of similar questions. The I get downvoted and I get my question closed. Then the site tells me to do things and I do them but no one else knows what I'm talking about and I get mocked for not knowing how the site works. That community is toxic as fuck. Genuinely, users spend more effort and energy looking for reasons to not answer something than they do trying to make questions answerable. Heaven forbid anyone give a reason for any of this. Just gotta get their daily stats to rank up.

    Seriously, the one thing SO could've had going for it in the wake of AI is the human aspect, but they haven't fixed their community problems in years.

  • I got a 2024 LG OLED TV. It has "AI" but idk what it does exactly. During the setup process there was a step that had a shitty still image of a baby with some crappy music playing. There were two toggle switches to enable AI picture and sound. It was so cheesy. I can't make this shit up. When you turned on picture AI the baby image became HD and a video instead of a still image. I was like "Oh my God, wow! Look at the AI! I wonder what the AI sound is??" So we turn it on and the sound gets high def and adds more instruments in.

    In case it isn't clear, none of this was actually AI or enabling actual features on the TV, just some weird required step in the process of setup. It wasn't an AI animated video or sound, just a different video of the baby and a different audio track.

  • Heat Issues

  • Heat pumps are more efficient, yes, but people still use space heaters to heat small areas. I can't pick up and move a heat pump around my home lol. Heating a small area a few more degrees is going to be cheaper than heating the whole house more a few more degrees (even with a heat pump).
