Any pronouns. 33.

Professional developer and amateur gardener located near Atlanta, GA in the USA.

I'm using a new phone keyboard, please forgive typos.

  • It's also funny when people argue it's not actually white because color picker says it's light blue. Firstly, color motherfucking temperature.

It's because it seems like about half of people's eyes and brains correct it one way and the other half the other way, leading to extremely heated discussions about "how can you not see it my way." This isn't like other optical illusions like that silhouette of a spinning ballerina where you can easily flip it around in your mind. I've only ever seen this as white and gold once and it took someone putting it upside down and very slowly zooming out from a very specific area of the dress.

So that's why people were so torn about it.

  • Is there even an incentive for solving men's problems?

Uh, yes? Obviously. If there wasn't then "manosphere" content would never be monetized.

  • No one was really asking "what color is the dress", they were asking what colors are on the photo.

This is not my recollection of this at all. Everyone knows what physical colors are on the screen. If so people who see the image as white and gold wouldn't have been shocked/angry to learn the dress is actually blue and black.

  • To me the background looks more like the left.

  • Yeah, it's like blue and an ugly desaturated goldenrod. Because it's sort of yellowish instead of black I think that's why it tricks people's brains.

  • Someone telling me my input would be a big help would be satisfactory to me though. Maybe I've just had a different meeting style since I've been working from home though. If a meeting is something I'm not needed in I just work on other stuff. And because nobody can see me it doesn't have the same vibe as doing it on the room. Plus my calendar isn't teeming with meetings today like it has been at other jobs in the past. Back in 2019 not only was I in the office but I had a ton of meetings. I would probably take a different approach then. Or ask my manager if I was unsure.

  • If someone sends me a one word reply of "yes" to "what is the purpose of this meeting and is my presence beneficial" then it wouldn't matter what I asked lol. They're clearly on auto pilot. I'd probably add my manager and see what they say

  • Is there a way to send and receive SMS and send/receive phone calls through a computer? Like if I wanted to ditch a phone for a cyber deck could I? And just use like a mobile hotspot for Internet?

  • I think "What is the purpose of this meeting and why am I being included" is almost polite as-is, but "why am I being included" sounds a little rude. Maybe "what is the purpose of this meeting and is my presence needed?" Maybe "beneficial" instead of "needed" depending on who exactly you're emailing.

  • Continuous delivery be like

  • Anyone telling you it's five years away? Check their investments.

  • Test comment, please ignore. Jerboa doesn't recognize that and I'm curious if the punycode version would be.

    @lfdi@xn--baw-joa.social

    Edit: interesting. Yes.

  • Yeah, I'd genuinely rather watch whatever amount of seconds forced ads are of black, silent screen than see an ad. It sucks and is awkward, but whatever.

  • She probably has something pretty final in mind.

  • One datum

  • I just wanted to say to not feel bad about not being able to cry. It can feel strangely invalidating to not be able to cry when you're sad, but it's just your brain being a jerk. There's nothing wrong with the tears not coming.

Or maybe you're just not as upset as you were before, that's possible too. It's a cliche but time does heal all wounds.

  • SSL or the comment? The comment is annoying because people use TLS and SLL interchangeably in colloquial speak.

  • Plex server isn't open source.

  • The joke being it's still a 4 letter word in all caps. Relax.

  • NERD!
