  • or even to know that we were even here.

What about our megafauna extinctions, nuclear tests, mass biosphere degradation and destruction, the Anthropocene extinction event, the fish bones of 2-6 trillion fish we torture to death every year, the bones of trillions of monstrous chickens, anthropogenic climate change, plastic... and soon the upcoming anthropogenic climate-change cascade and the Anthropocene mass-extinction event?

  • Only Yesterday is my favorite by far. If Grave of the Fireflies didn't have the supernatural/Deus-ex-machina/genre whiplash scenes at the end, it would've been my favorite, but that ending ruins the movie for me.

  • What religion are they? The opposite-of-what-Jesus-taught religion?

  • It'll be interesting to see a character following the teachings of Jesus Christ, like

    • Luke 16:13 "You cannot serve both God and money."
    • Mark 10:21 "Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor"
    • Matthew 5:39 "If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also."
    • Matthew 5:44 "love your enemies"

So there's no chance the character will be a capitalist, troop-supporting, neo-Nazi. Right?

  • You failed to explain how you plan to abolish the two party system that makes voting “green” unviable in the US.

There are enough people who couldn't stomach voting for the Rs or Ds, to vote for another party that wants to reverse instead of accelerate anthropogenic climate change. See post you replied to:

In 2020 Biden got 81 million votes, Trump 74 million. 84 million didn’t vote - if they voted Green to reverse anthropogenic climate change, they could’ve gotten a non-omnicidal president, won the house, and a third of the senate.

Not to mention Jill Stiens [sic] ties to Putin.

If Stein is tied to Putin, then another 3rd party should get people's votes instead - the smaller parties have less ballot access, requiring more write-in votes. What are Stein's connections? Seems like the SIC's report doesn't make it clear what she did wrong.

  • It's not only Republicans voting to have their faces eaten, per the definition of this community: https://lemmy.world/post/21640658

Democrats constantly vote to make the biosphere unlivable as shown by how their actions are accelerating anthropogenic climate: like the US producing more oil under Biden than under Trump. Cue surprised Pikachu when their houses burn down due to record heat, record wind storms, record fires which climate scientists have been warning about for decades now.

You can vote for the omnicidal Democrats who supply weapons to genocidal governments, or vote for the omnicidal Republicans who are worse than the Democrats, or you can vote to reverse climate change. In 2020 Biden got 81 million votes, Trump 74 million. 84 million didn't vote - if they voted Green to reverse anthropogenic climate change, they could've gotten a non-omnicidal president, won the house, and a third of the senate.

  • https://www.washingtonpost.com/climate-environment/2024/08/16/biden-oil-drilling-production/ :

As he campaigned for president in 2020, Joe Biden made a bold promise at a New Hampshire town hall, adding repetition for emphasis: “No more drilling on federal lands. Period. Period. Period. Period.” […] The Biden administration has now outpaced the Trump administration in approving permits for drilling on public lands, and the United States is producing more oil than any country ever has.

  • If the options include popular Hitler, popular Stalin, and unpopular Gandhi; but only 1% of voters choose the non-genocidal option, maybe Carlin was right:

"Garbage in, garbage out. If you have selfish, ignorant citizens, […] you’re going to get selfish, ignorant leaders." – George Carlin https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cBrbXOmnW70

  • "Everybody complains about politicians. Everybody says they suck. Well, where do people think these politicians come from? They don't fall out of the sky. They don't pass through a membrane from another reality. They come from American parents and American families, American homes, American schools, American churches, American businesses, and American universities - and they are elected by American citizens. This is the best we can do folks. This is what we have to offer. It's what our system produces: Garbage in, garbage out. If you have selfish, ignorant citizens, [...] you're going to get selfish, ignorant leaders. Term limits ain't going to do any good; you're just going to end up with a brand new bunch of selfish, ignorant Americans. So, maybe, maybe, maybe, it's not the politicians who suck. Maybe something else sucks around here... like, the public. Yeah, the public sucks. There's a nice campaign slogan for somebody: 'The public sucks. Fuck hope.'" -- George Carlin https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cBrbXOmnW70

I don't completely agree: slavery is now illegal; so there's hope they'll one day vote to oppose omnicidal biosphere destruction, and genocides.

  • Pearl jam is my favorite band also, and Riot act is probably also my favorite album of theirs.

If you like Pearl jam, I'd recommend my favorite album of all times: Soundgarden's Superunknown.

Some of my lesser-known, non-grunge favorites:

  • The way the 4th panel leads your eyes up to the 2nd is amazing: 5 panels for the size of 4.

  • Voyager 5.17 "Course: oblivion"

    Hell of an ending.
