It baffles me the lack of privacy in the holodecks. At least on federation ships, I don’t remember the ones from Quark’s being accessed by anybody when in use with the same liberty as on the ships.
They enter on others personal fantasies while running (or load a personal program from another person, people sometimes load others person programs), imagine enter on on an R-rated Barclay program while it is in use or load Tuvok’s wife program to help him through Pom Farr.
He wouldn’t program the coffee, instead he would program the coffee beans from all sources and different roasts and make the coffee himself, like some people use the replicator to obtain ingredients and cook by themselves.
In fact I imagine him being ultra precise with the water temperature

SNW is TOS and TNG modernised. Some character arcs span across some episodes but the episodes by themselves are self contained (maybe with the exception of the end of the seasons).
There is room for totally random episodes that can experiment, do crazy things, and most important, expand characters.
Obviously the one who is not one of the lead actors, whose character usually doesn’t have a name, no lines, never appeared, and is from security and tasked to protect the captain and jump first in combat is going to survive.
It gets better as you gain experience and it becomes like a part of you. In the same way you don think about extending the arm, opening and closing the hand when picking an object, when shifting a gear is the same, you don’t perform all the steps or movements like independent tasks that need all your attention, it just becomes “shift up/down”.
In my first practice lesson I panicked with the all things to take care off, and I didn’t move more than five meters in a speed that the needle detected.
The clutch is not something that goes by precision, is about feelings, with the noise from the motor, the clutch pedal vibrations, the response from the vehicle… I is telling you what to do, in the end is feelings and muscle memory.
