  • Yeah it's uncomfortable as hell to sit with anything in back pockets. I've actually utilized this at work. My customers often have me sign out contractor keys that I must return before leaving. Keeping them in a back pocket prevents me from driving away with them. I'll know as soon as I sit down if I didn't return them

  • I too prefer to not having anything in my pants pockets. Can't wait until it get cool enough to wear a light jacket so I can utilize it's pockets

  • Occasionally I come across camps while fishing local rivers. Homeless folks tend to set up within walking distance of some kind of support like places that give out meals. I spotted a camp last fall across the river from me thinking it was a dumb place to set up. In a suburban park in full view of a paved trail. A few days later the newspaper ran an article about a woman dead from exposure being found inside

  • I remember the first time I was at someone's house and they asked a visitor who who was about to light up to take it outside. It seemed so.odd. My mom, grandmother and aunts would sit around the dining room table with a thick haze. Nobody thought nothing of it

  • There's an anxiety that takes hold when people are lost. It can make people very irritable and cause them to rash things because it feels better to do something even if it's the wrong thing. I've found this out from years of backpacking using a map and compass. GPS software is a great thing but I can understand why some people don't trust it, it's not without it's faults. You can't trust it explicitly. IMO because of this technology we are losing our ability to know where we are in a space. Following the linear directions from a GPS app we don't picture where we are in relation to our destination. Your friend probably had memorized how to get to his job at that exit by arriving at it from a particular direction. Deviation from the norm threw him off. It's interesting how technology changes us and we become dependent on it. I grew up reading maps before GPS having had delivery jobs, still have the county map books. There was a time when people navigated by stars at night and by following flowing water.

  • Considering that parents get a Child Tax Credit ($2,000 per child I think?) and I pay property taxes to fund public schools (I don't mind) I'd say I'm already being taxed in order to subsidize other people's children

  • I came across a guy while walking in a park who began preaching to a friend and me about edible plants. It was real obvious he had no idea what he was talking about but was a socially awkward, lonely person desperately needing attention. I'm the friendliest person you will ever meet but felt an overwhelming desire to punch this man.
