  • Sadly my kids got me, someone who's career has been with IT for over 20 years now lol. Gonna be fun times when they get to this point.

  • Im not a tuna melt person, but i do like a regular tuna salad sandwich without cheese. I like relish, but generally I put a cap full of gherkins pickle juice in which gives it such a great sweet finish to it. Can't have tuna without it now, if its homemade.

  • I did, put $20 in to bet on the superbowl one year and won. I made a bunch of NBA bets until the end of the season and won a lot of them as well. I made $300 and took $200 out. I played some more with the $100, went up and down but ultimately lost it. Still overall gain of $180 was fine by me! My friends all love to use it as well, but they are way more into sports than I am. They do the whole fantasy leagues and stuff.

I have no issue with gambling, but if you are not a responsible person you should absolutely stay away. I grew up playing poker with friends so thats why I always enjoyed it.

Seeing all the comments I feel like I am completely different from everyone else here lol.

  • As dumb as it was, I laughed.

  • Thanks! That makes sense. Although it's not really others if you ask me, its themselves. I'm sure they would argue otherwise. No accountability and it's only getting worse.

  • If they are being stored on his servers then he absolutely should be, and whoever else is in charge of that company. If that was found on any regular persons pc it would be over, so why not here.

  • I have tried out a bunch of Linux ones last year and I will be converting over my main PC at some point this year due to all the things they have done or want to do with Windows 11. I agree it's very hard to ignore.

  • 2087 looks a lot like Pluribus.

Edit: I didn't read the title until after.

  • Oh I know, I work in the industry as well. Our company backups alone for workstations and servers is just under 1 petabyte. This is then replicated to an offsite location which is also out disaster recovery location, and also stored in long term storage in Azure. This is just backups, sooo much money for backups haha. Thats why I am shocked that this entire company can run off of 300tb which is a lot, but nothing when you think of it being the entire business model for them.

I think the craziest thing ive seen is we have these instruments that do genome testing and sequencing and they would create like 10tb worth of data per month. Every month they got there own 10tb drive handed to them to backup their stuff on there own on top of the ones we did for them.

  • 300tb is a lot, but its kind of crazy to think this entire company only needs 300tb storage arrays to function. I wonder how they handle things internally. I would imagine at least 1 backup server ready to go in HA. I wonder if they have multiple regions across the country that also serves up the same setup.

  • I think for obvious reasons Adolf is up there. Although I have heard it is still a semi common name in some parts of the world.

  • Got to my late 30's before needing to call. This was about 6 years ago. My mother in law was staying with us because her husband passed 3 months prior. She found out later that month she had pancreatic cancer. So my wifes family cleaned out their house and got things in order. She moved in with us maybe a month prior. My wifes sister was with me visiting to see her and my wife left like 30 min to take care of stuff. It was my sister's daughter and my kid who was 3 or 4 at the time. It started out She said she was having trouble breathing and sat on our stairs as her sister tried to get her to calm down since at this point we didnt think much of it. Within a few more minutes she started to panic and so did the sister. The sister started screaming and I called 911. By the time they got here we had already saw her slip out of consciousness while continuing to say i can breath I dont want to die. Paramedics tried for 30 min or so and took her to the hospital were she was pronounced dead. It was a massive heart attack and everyone says there really wasn't much we could have done. That was a bad year, but then we got covid the next year so it just keeps getting better...

  • Maybe its the games I have played but my last pc was connected to my tv exclusively for 5 years and never saw that UI issue. I definitely had issues that sometimes needed addressing, but that wasnt one. I thought it worked good enough, but yeah the keyboard and mouse was always annoying. I used the Logitech all in one which was pretty small and mouse pad on the right side from the couch. For the most part I used it more for video playback though so I was in Kodi a lot and I would then use my phone as the remote control.

  • Lol, I also hate the RGB as well. I built mine a few years ago and it was annoying how badly it is just integrated into most parts now. Some had options where I could buy the same part without it, but some it was either buy it with it or get something else that was either lower end or higher end and not what I wanted at all. In the end it has a low glow and I just face that open window at a wall. Why can't everything have a boring option like noctua fans.

  • Not disagreeing with any of this, but it's not like people who don't build PC's dont have plenty of options of prebuilt ones from either high end 3rd party stores as well as low end ones. To me it's just another option to add to a long list which due to the company name will definitely sell more than the others right off the bat.

  • Thanks for the suggestion. Says on it's site summer 2026 is target for release. Still a while away, I wonder how long we have with Firefox before this takes over...

  • I want them to build a top of the line gaming pc put into a small box and sell it to me at a huge loss. Why can't they do that?

  • Same! Except I use windows and they have a small app that you can install and run in the background which will update the IP if needed.

I also used duckdns for years before moving to this and I never had any issues using that either. It was the same thing, small app that ran on your machine and you needed the token and it just worked.

  • It may be predictable, but A Christmas Story. I grew up with it and the 24 hour marathon with my parents and for the most part we still keep the tradition alive with my family. Wrap gifts to it, open gifts to it, waiting to eat dinner and still watching it. Of course you only see snip its throughout the day so its not like I see it 20 times, but more likely around 4 times in a year.
