Gentle nerd freak of the pacific northwest. All nation states are vermin.

  • Revelations is not a prophecy about today and cannot describe anything contemporary to us. It was a political allegory about what was going on at the time of it's writing.

    March/April, looks-like when the Middle-East goes kablooey ... 2 mutually-exclusive "humankind"s occupying the same planet, & the global-deathmatch begins

When none of this happens i hope you will abandon these ideas and not trying to modify them.

  • Personally i'm hoping for good news from the hungarian election and the end of orban.

And of course like every being capable of moral reasoning, i can't wait to see steven miller in a prison he built, locked in a 10 person cell with 1 toilet and 100 other nazis. Happy days! 😊

  • One of the gems of the latter simpsons episodes is grandpa mocking the complaints of an iraq war vet "It was too hot, the USO show was rob schneider, US objectives were and remain incomprehensible."

The same will apply here, except the uso show will be kid rock.

  • Also israel's foreign policy objectives.

  • A lot of what ai is good at is very useful for automating massive state surveillance programs. AI could monitor live audio and video communication for problem phrases, for example.

Making authoritarian rule easier and cheaper is a very valuable capability to elites, though detrimantal to the world.

I think the main effect of ai will be continuing this deadly trend of power consolidation that we've seen since maybe the mesolithic. The power of information will be conslidated in fewer and fewer ai-oligarchs, allowing ever more intrusive states to control more people more precisely.

  • Maduro has no connections to cartels and the trump regime has released prominent cartel figures so 'cartel threats' is a lie.

If this is anything more than a publicity stunt, the only real threat is maga voters upset at her covering for pedophiles. Whether the victims are the innocent or maga, the perpatrators are always maga.

  • It's going to make snr devs get fired, surely?

They either refuse to sign off when boss wants them to and get fired or sign off and get fired when ai code they signed off on causes issues.

  • The rich benefit in some way from almost everything that happens, that's how being an elite works.

But that doesn't mean that the regime intented to massively spike oil prices. They'll have so much more voter suppression to do now.

Yes, they're evil, but they're also frequently stupid. They fuck up a lot.

  • Fun! Yeah i think that's what graeber & wengrove would call "play heirarchy" - temporary, rotating or situational relations rather than the perminant domination of heirarchy.

  • That doesn't sound like a heirarchy, if you can all just do your thing.

If the manager or frontman tells everyone else what to do and you can't decide for yourself or tell them what to do, that would be hierarchic.

  • The boss picture is missing a whip - all heirarchy is coercive.

The leader picture should be identical to the boss one except the leader should be saying "We're all pulling together!" while whiping.

  • In taiwan they bake them, mash them, sculpt the mash into a potato shape, bread that, fry it, cut that open, then serve it with some combo of broccoli, corn, pineapple, shrimp, oyster mushroom and always swimming in an inch of nacho cheese.

  • Good vodka is just vodka that tastes less like vodka.

  • That's almost identical to how my family makes latkes, just we add a little grated onion as well. Going back we're from nearby poland/lithuana so not that surprising i suppose.

We've found the secret is to hand-squeeze the moisture out of the gratings before adding the flour and egg, it just tastes way better.

  • Isn't rubbing alcohol or hand sanitizer cheaper though?

  • Either you've never tasted vodka or you've never tasted anything else made from potatoes.

  • "Gambles his presidency?" My god the nyt is such trash.

We're in an era of rising authoritarianism, with an illegitimate regime that refuses to obey the law, is openly committed to voter suppresion, openly engages in corruption including with foreign nationals, runs concentration camps and is lead by a known child rapist.

And yet the nyt talks like the political rules of 2006 still apply.

  • Rum, Sodomy and the Lash by the Pogues. Seemless blending of punk and traditional irish music that's still as raw and refined today as ever.

Pretty much anything by the Velvet Underground. They're the quintessential "barely anyone came to their shows but everyone who did started a band" band.

Early Pixies - Surfer Rosa or Come on Pilgrim. Basically no grunge otherwise.

Probably everything by Sun Ra, but his earliest wrangling of electronic keys into jazz in like the 40s or whatever seems pretty consequential. Plus probably no P-funk as we know it without Sun Ra, which has heaps of knock on effects.

  • But I don't do anything unless prompted by a human.
