  • Tesla is claiming they filed previously unfiled sales once the announcement was made that the program was close to running out of money. However:

    One Tesla locations in particular, Quebec City, claimed 4,000 rebates over the course of a weekend, which is physically impossible for a location of that size, and represents about a ~20x spike in daily deliveries for the location. Another location in Etobicoke reportedly claimed 2,528 rebates over the weekend, which is more than all the rebates that location had previously claimed combined.

    It's obviously just a lie to suggest these staggering numbers were past sales unfiled. Especially since tesla gives no details, and proceeds to threaten the government with legal action. This also fails to explain how their sales were so close to the amount left in the fund - mentioned in initial reporting but not here.

    A general strike isn't only a massive challenge of will and solidarity - it's also picking a resource fight with capital itself. All the determination in the world crumbles in the face of hunger and deprivation. A general strike requires months or years of planning and hoarding.

    There were easily 10k+ at the waterfront in downtown Portland, combined with the single digit thousands at other spots in the greater metro and the numbers from other spots around the state, it's much more accurate to say ten of thousands.

  • A more effective version of BLM would've called a general strike.

    You can't just call a general strike like it's an I Win power in a video game.

    How is BLM going to feed and pay rent for millions of strikers in this general strike? A general strike is a massive, resource intensive feat of logistics with many possible fail points that takes a long time planning to have any hope of success.

    Especially since we've not had a general strike in over a generation, there's a good chance it would fail and sour the prospects of doing a general strike in the future.

    Also, BLM was a diffuse multi-regional movement with local goals and concrete demands. Defund police departments and end qualified immunity were consistent national goals.

  • I browse 3-5 times a day, and see something unnecessarily rude maybe once a week or so. I've not noticed any change in rudeness or negativity recently.

    Without hard data, mood trends identified on social media usually say more about the identifier than the community.

    The thing I find fascinating is that normally fascism is a self-destructive attempt to increase a nation's power whereas here the goal is to weaken and break the power of the US.
