  • [DISCUSSION] What's your go-to struggle meal?

  • For when ramen is just barely too little, i make Alfredo pasta. Make pasta of choice and drain, add sauce from jar, add some capers, salt, pepper, red pepper flakes. Top with parmesan to feel fancy. It's basically cooking the noodles and 5 minutes of mixing, but tastes like it took longer.

  • Mitten Squad. Guy popularized challenge runs with his fallout and elder scrolls playthroughs, and his deadpan delivery gets me every time. Unfortunately passed away after a long battle with alcoholism. I miss that dude. I don't think he realized how much light he brought the world.

  • Because in normal play it's very hard or impossible to do. The batter is facing away from the catcher, who is the one signaling. Now that there are more high-tech ways to do it (telephoto lens cameras, ways to communicate things to the batter, etc) it's just become a much bigger problem. A properly hidden signal would be visible to 2nd and maybe 1st/3rd bases, and the players there would have a harder time seeing and communicating signals. Nowadays, someone with a high-powered camera and a radio in the bleachers behind center field can see and relay things to team members and coaches with extreme ease. And past success doing it has only emboldened people

  • Would never make it myself, but it just seems like an over-the-top egg salad and tomato sandwich with ham thrown in, which doesn't sound bad. Not sure how the "frosting" factors into the texture here, but if that goes over well i can see it being palatable

  • Go to shows at small venues, smaller shows have smaller prices. I've seen some great shows from headliner artists for under $50. Cheapest I ever saw was a few years ago, $9 to see Slipknot from 10-50ft away. And by a few years I mean 2 or 3, not 10 or 20. Sign up for newsletters from local venues and your favorite artists, check websites for schedules, you'd be surprised what pops up.

    Also never had someone poop on the ground at one of those.

  • Well, there was natō, which is just slimy fermented soybeans. Had a taste like rotten sick and a texture like milky mucus covering half-mushed beans.

    Not a fan of sea urchin either.

    Also eaten a few expired food items that made me very wary of repeats, and usually put me off the food in question for at least a year. Rotten fruit cup that tasted like acetone, slimy off ham, chunky lemon milk.

    Last, I once tried to cook a ham hock in beans. Recipe came out tasting like what I imagine stewed human flesh would taste like. Just wrong. Couldnt say exactly why, but nothing about the smell or taste told me it was edible. It was the most visceral "you're-eating-a-dead-thing" feeling i've ever gotten.

  • Man, all this made me do was envy muffins puffins. What I wouldn't give to just waddle around the beach with my buddies all day.

    EDIT: I also envy the general appeal and tastiness of muffins.
