  • This happens all over the Southwest, it really depends on patchiness of cloud cover. Amazing sunsets don't care if you're in the parking lot of Wal-Mart or out somewhere with trees.

  • Yeah, it was like a tragic accident. The theory was solid. A circle is the strongest shape for holding force like that. And IIRC he just sort of lost his balance and the corner touched the ground and that was it. Trooper of a guy to pull most of it out before going to the hospital.

    How do I even find this video anymore? Do the kids today even use limewire? It occurs to me, I've seen worse now.

  • Not too woke. Though I wouldn't say it's anything about being "woke" at all - the documentary is a shameless cash grab playing on controversy and ruined lives.

    At the time this all went down, MJ was under a lot of scrutiny before he died. It's clear that his family fucked him up hard and that stardom like he had broke his brain in a way where I don't think he could be considered to be fully, rationally in control of his actions for most of his adult life. Which is not to excuse what he did, but I would blame Joe Jackson, the lack of mental health professionals in MJ's life, and the lack of willingness to bring a celebrity to justice and realize he needs to be fully committed before I ever thought that MJ was just some average Epstein-style pedo.

    I agree - what is there to debate? He was an adult sleeping with and molesting kids, and he needed legally mandated mental health treatment at the very least.

  • I will agree with people who suggested that Palantir is scraping anything and everything online that's public looking for anything actionable. Every time I see some .ml user write an actionable threat on here, it puts all of us on the line. But they're also probably scraping things like prepper forums and whatever. They're using AI systems for this, not humans, so until you ping hot for something actionable, they're just building a profile on you to tie accounts to you as a real person.

    Why Palantir and not the NSA? Palantir don't need no warrant. Even a FISA warrant takes a paper trail. That's why contractors are contracted - to use third party doctrine to violate the 4th Amendment.

    That being said, I strongly recommend:

    • Don't fucking doxx yourself. If you live in the US, don't say what state or city unless it's an account tied to you IRL.
    • Don't name, or even gender if you can avoid it, spouses, partners, or family members.
    • Always connect with a VPN.
    • Any account used through an app on a phone should be considered tied to you IRL.
    • Don't say anything on the internet you don't want a prosecutor reading back to you in a monotone voice.
