    I'm sure it was extremely well executed and totally worth making, but it's not my flavor of ice cream.

    I want to be able to help and make my neighborhood better and feed my family but without the frantic pace. I once had a surgery that put me in the hospital for a few days. Even with the recovery and pain and everything, it remains one of my happiest memories. I was resting, cared for, and looked after. I have none of that in my daily life.

  • That's part of it. For me, AI signals low effort. I can see computer generated slop anywhere. It's completely ignorable. Human stuff, in this age of isolation, brings me joy. I love janky, hand made stuff because there's a human element to it.

  • My lived experience has now taught me that 90% of people are cheaters, liars, and thieves, and while I know that's not reality, it's fundamentally changed the way I approach friendships. I don't open up to people anymore because I don't trust anyone anymore.

    As you yourself said, that's not reality. What is reality is that we're all flawed and gonna fuck it up at some point. That's to be expected. What someone does afterwards is the true measure of their character. Apology and restitution are very positive signs.

    Every single mutual friend has stayed friends with her and completely ghosted me.

    Have you directly asked them what's going on? Just a curious "hey, I noticed we haven't talked after she cheated on me and we broke up. Are we still good or are you not talking to me anymore? No worries if not, just wanna check." or something.

  • When I was a teen, I wanted to be the hero who saves the world. That's impossible. I still felt the desire but age has tempered it. I still wish I could make everything better, but it's more of a dream than a constant urge. So, I've decided to repeat to myself: I can't save the world, but I can make my corner a little nicer.

    Once I started framing my life like that, it's a bit easier to do small things to improve my life. I can pick up that piece of litter. I can return that shopping cart.

    I can't stop corrupt politicians from being corrupt and ruining the planet and killing other people half a world away. I can only save my friends and family. So I focus on them.

    Additionally, I filter out the news that makes me sad (tons still gets thru).
