  • Good, no more slop!

  • According to the dual process model of grief, healthy grieving involves a good flow between loss oriented grieving and restoration oriented grieving. A rejection follows the same principle.

You need to make time to cry and feel sad and think about the rejection. And you need to make time to play and be happy and put it out of mind. Healthy grieving involves both.

  • Piefed has the ability to move posts. You can move your post if you decide you made a mistake, or the mods can move a post they've decided is off-topic. A request for tech support could be moved from a conversation community to a support community where it belongs, without forcing the user to resubmit.

If you mess up and say something stupid, there's a button you can press that says "I changed my mind about this comment". The comment remains visible, but everyone sees a disclaimer that you no longer believe what you said, and they can't reply. No more replies telling you the same thing, and you don't look like a sneaky coward. Other people get to learn from your mistake.

You can follow microblogs from Piefed. I'm following George Takie, I can see his toots from My Piefed account.

You can set your pronouns and they'll appear next to your name on most communities. Species too, if you're otherkin.

There's a list of new communities and a separate list of active communities in the homepage sidebar. Communities are also organised into topics, so you can find new communities to join more easily.

  • I know, what a fool I was! I learned to play the piano and went to job interviews like a moron!

  • She's the modern day Jucika

  • He kept asking the shelter kitchen staff when I'd be in the cafeteria for lunch so he could pitch Me on his time UFO idea. He believed that two disks rotating in opposite directions would create infinite energy and unlock time travel.

And I told him that it's not a UFO if you've identified it, it's a flying saucer. And I don't think the scientific principle at play is valid. He told Me to watch a conspiracy documentary that proves it is valid.

  • I used to be homeless, and the worst thing that the other homeless people ever did to Me is that a crazy guy kept asking Me to help him build a time machine. Homeless people are mostly very sweet and nice.

  • Agentic AI is ideologically capitalist, so it won't give us free food and housing if it does take over. Which it won't, because it's dumb and subservient to the Epstein class.

  • I wish the socialist dinosaurs from Rick and Morty were in our world.

  • Including fuck Indigenous religion?

  • I liked that movie. They did a communist revolution.

  • You mean theseistic. Narcissism is self-destructive self-love. Theseism is abusive hubris and vanity.

See, Narcissus was a 16 year old kid who wanted to stay unmarried and go hunting alone in the woods. But everyone else wanted to marry him. Ameinias sexually harassed him, and Narcissus told him to fuck off and kys. Nemesis didn't like that, so she made Narcissus fall in love with his reflection and die. So narcissism is the kind of self-love that hurts you and gets you killed.

Theseus was a famous "hero" who slew the minotaur with the help of a woman who loved him, then abandoned her on a random island and left her for dead. Then he kidnapped 12 year old Helen of Troy with the plan to force her to marry him, so that he would be even more famous for marrying a daughter of Zeus. So theseism is the kind of hubris that makes you abuse others for personal gain.

  • I'm not talking about a feathered serpent, I'm talking about the Rainbow Serpent. It made Australia. It slithered up into the physical world from the Dreaming and dug the riverbeds with its tail. It pushed up earth from the rivers to make the mountains. It did so to create a home for all of the plant and animal spirits, out of genuine selfless kindness.

There are hundreds of Rainbow Serpent stories, but that's the basic gist of it in most places. Where I live, Indigenous people do not think of themselves as masters of the land and the ecosystem. They think of themselves as carers. Relationships with plants and animals are viewed as consensual agreements, dependent on continued responsibility, forged in the time before time, by the spirits that would become living things. Just as the Rainbow Serpent created a home for humans and other living things out of kindness, so too do humans have a duty to reciprocate that kindness for the natural world and the spirits of the Dreaming. This is a philosophical framework in which humans and nonhumans are viewed as equal partners.

Which goes some way to explaining why there are no historical records of precolonial warfare in this region of Australia. There are records passed down from 10,000 years ago when the ice age ended and the sea rose, which have been verified by science as accurate. But no records of war between Aboriginal nations.

The Trojan War was considered so important to the Greeks that we still remember it today, 3000 years after the Bronze Age collapse (which is when historians think it probably happened). There are no such histories here. If war happened, it wasn't considered a great thing like it was in Greece. It wasn't remembered.

A people who are smart enough, who have advanced enough knowledge of psychology and politics, can intentionally design a religion and a social structure that creates peace. You say peace isn't understood by anyone anywhere? It's understood perfectly well right here in Australia. And Aboriginal religion is a key technology for sustaining it.

  • You've read most of them, huh? How many Australian religions? How many American religions? Most of them, pfft, most of them can't be "read" because the texts were either destroyed, or never existed because it's an oral tradition.

I swear, the way ignorant white people talk about religion is just full of cultural bias in every sentence. You talk about everything like it's Abrahamism. Come on then, let's hear one single Dreaming story from you. If you know one story about the Rainbow Serpent, I'll lighten up.

  • So you don't know the first thing about My religion, pagan religion, or Indigenous religion, huh?

Why is the word "god" randomly capitalised in the middle of a sentence?
