I'm a human being, god damn it. My life has value.

  • Ah jeez, what can I say but 12 years old is the perfect time to be given a Megadeth album. I think it was Capitol Punishment.

  • I don't know that there is any specific guidance on how to appear to have cut ties. When I was trying to distance myself from someone, I didn't want to keep defining myself in relation to them, even in terms of not being tied to them.

I see a time like this as a chance to learn more about yourself. Explore with different ways of self-expression within your means, see what fits, and take it as far as feels right. Gumtree or Craig's list are good places to start, see what calls out to you and feel free to repaint, redecorate, or modify as needed. Paint is cheap, so playing with new colours and patterns is a good place to start. Just make sure that whatever you choose expresses something real about you, not how disconnected you are from someone that isn't relevant to your life anymore.

  • Have we tried insisting firmly? Asking rhetorically because no we haven't

  • Well now I have to check it out

  • Trump lore is extensive and cursed

  • It's so much easier to understand his actions when you accept that his orders from Putin is to run things badly. Never trust a man that eats secret messages.

  • Relative to the globe. What you've observed isn't statistically normal.

  • Anyone who has strong opinions about new video games or a favourite Tiktoker is wealthy

  • That's so.

A career in politics hasn't attracted much high quality talent in general, I think they'd be more successful if there was more of a sense of politics being a good option for good people. It mainly attracts scum these days.

  • I am troubled in my heart. I would not have been told so in this way.

  • Oh hey, I did something right. That's kinda neat

  • The fact that these experienced politicians whose judgment you appear to trust, have both decided to work within the existing system should probably sway your opinion of what the optimal strategy is at least a bit more.

There are usually two parties because the game-theoretic dynamic of this electoral system has a significant channelizing effect on the likeliest outcomes. Once you've accepted that reality, the (admittedly unsatisfying) optimal strategy becomes apparent.

I say this all with zero rancor - I do not like these arguments either, but the logic of it is difficult to see past. I would prefer the system be overthrown entirely but, and this is key, you go into the revolution with the populace that exists - and they're going to have their own ideas for what comes next. I'm not so sure I'd like what they bring to the table.

  • I give them a few quid every month. Might be the only regular donation I've got going at the moment (was being the sole earner for 3 until recently so yeah, rebuilding slowly)

  • Search engines are mega sucky these days, but Wikipedia has never been better. I find myself going straight to wiki any time I need a quick fact or basic info.

  • There is no cause for confusion, be at ease. Even an especially unintelligent conservative can easily comprehend the danger of their own policies, once the harm is made intimate to them.

  • Any simple majority is, I suspect, systematically like this

  • African Americano

    Come on 🤨

  • Honestly just born a dual citizen, hardest part has been keeping my US job and calling in to west coast businesses in my evenings.

As for the destination, just the UK. Been here three years now, and still just barely getting used to it. I didn't fit in in America either so I might as well not fit in somewhere better.
