  • Aesthetically speaking, not standing out is totally fine. Personality speaking though, you have to be standing out.

    What makes you unique? What hobbies do you have? What things are you passionate about?

    People who are passionate about things are way more attractive than people who are not.

    Give me a date with the person who will talk my ear off about trains, rocks, dinosaurs, etc anyday over the person who has no passions and no hobbies.

  • I've started using FreeCAD for CAD work, I've used Fusion 360 for 5 years before trying FreeCAD (again, I tried it a few years ago) and it works pretty good.

    It's different and it's taking some getting used to but it's working out quite nicely so far.

  • I'd say there's also some corners of Lemmy that feel like the slightest provocation leads to an absolute dog pile of people being super angry looking for a fight.

    That aspect blows but it's usually helped by making sure that the instance your account is on is federated (or specifically NOT federated) with specific other instances.

    Though this place is so much more chill than Reddit it's fucking mindblowing
