  • If it means anything, I started my journey on lemmy as an armchair socialist who in practice was more a welfare capitalism type person. Now I’m a full on anarchist (anti-capitalist). So a steady stream of influence, especially when people make good points and it helps make sense of my suffering, has shifted my political views strongly.

(But the basis for that shift was already kind of laid out, I’ve been fascinated by anarchist critiques for a while, and one of my favourite political authors was one. But the sort of being in a community of likeminded people [lemmy] and having significant suffering at the hands of the current system that made me more strongly shift towards those views).

On the other hand. Simply having a few conversations with my vaguely left wing partner about my views has led her to go from vaguely social democrat to anarchist.

I think the lesson is change is possible, it’s just a slow series of events that add up. Usually there isn’t one thing that straight up switches a person.

  • Yeah. China invading Taiwan would be a good time to capitalise on chaos.

And probably cause a world war in the process :(

  • x^2—— = xx

  • Dems have switched to high propensity voters. The people who consistently turn out tend to be dems, the people who only sometimes turn out tend to be republicans. This means that special elections with low turnout favour dems.

(This is notable because before Trump came about it was the opposite pattern)

  • That doesn’t include images. Images are stored on wikimedia commons, which is about 600 TB.

  • Yeah. We evolved to survive as a group. Not as individuals.

Kangaroos while they do sometimes form groups, are far far less social, and kids of dead parents aren’t adopted like what would happen in a human group.

  • Kangaroos do the same. To be fair, evolutionarily it makes sense. (They only do it when they have literally no escape, and the choice is either both of them dying or the kid dying, soo…)

  • you can tweak the weights though

  • Lets you block a whole instance including users.

  • I hope we reintroduce and help repopulate predators.

The main reason deer populations are out of control is we’ve killed pretty much everything that eats deer…

  • …and you have 0 posts on your account.

There is a shortage of posts on lemmy compared to active users. So no use outproportionally criticising someone who is posting a post based on something like image quality of a reposted meme lol. That’ll just make people who bring content to lemmy less likely to continue.

Obviously it’s okay to criticise bad posts, but I think in thise case the criticism was more just insults. (and especially in a meme community, like dude we don’t expect 4k image memes).

  • Appreciate your images. But I don’t think that shade on OP was necessary lol.

  • According to the first article that popped up in the search results the most likely theory is portugese traders brought them over from madagascar.

  • I proudly still use a super specialised old school online forum and it works great for those purposes.

  • Anything in these pictures are crêpes. Galettes as you say is for salty food or if made with sarasin (buckwheat) flour.

  • Dude just cut lifesaving money for starving children a week ago.

  • Thanks ❤️ This was the working solution
