The world around me becoming dystopian like in The Handmaid's Tale. Ignorant people laugh at that because it's fiction but, like all dystopian fiction, it's based on things that have actually happened in history. There's little stopping it from happening again. I can't get over how extremely self-centered a worldview MAGA has that they think white people somehow have more of a right to control North America than the people that were there first. These are the people who don't see the irony in wanting to move to a country with no immigrants
As a Canadian, it irritates me that my country is so influenced by American culture that people in Canada conflate things happening in the Untied States with how things are in Canada. Not saying Canada is perfect but can we not conflate our problems with another country's problems?

Holding police accountable is an impossibility. Just like having cops deal with minor issues without lethal force. Simply unfeasible. Like universal healthcare, simply unfathomable. Just as impossible as having the law apply to people in power. As impossible as using alternative fuel sources and opting not to let AI take over the world. Or having humane prisons that focus on rehabilitation. It just cannot be done.
