Independent thinker valuing discussions grounded in reason, not emotions.

I say unpopular things but never something I know to be untrue. Always open to hear good-faith counter arguments. My goal is to engage in dialogue that seeks truth rather than scoring points.

  • I don't know what there is to be proud about not being depressed. I'm just happy that I'm not. Should I feel shame for it now or what?

  • If there was nothing there also wouldn't be anyone asking "why is there something rather than nothing". It's the kind of question that can only be asked in a universe that exists. Then answer to "why?" would basically be that because an unlikely even occured. It could just as well have not, but it did and now you're here.

  • Before even reading the comments I predict it's all negative and cynical because what ever Musk does needs to be opposed.

Maybe the people here feel personally threatened because negativity is all you have to offer.

  • I stand behind everything I've ever said. I've been posting for years with the mindset that what OP is describing will some day be reality. I might not be correct about everything but I've always been honest. I look forward to that day and all the hypocrites being exposed.

  • Spaghetti or any other long ones. Annoying to eat.

  • Okay, well, how is it that Americans aren't ready to hear them not understanding something?

  • How is you not understanding that the fault of the Americans?

  • Turns out that he didn't die after all so none.

  • Standard Notes. It's like Google Keep but without Google.

If I need to remember something I either take a note or add it to my calendar. Otherwise I wont.

  • Time travel to the future is possible if you travel fast enough. For example, traveling to the nearest galaxy at near-light speed wouldn’t take long for you, though it would take significantly longer for those observing you from Earth.

As for traveling to the past, I imagine it might involve the many-worlds interpretation of quantum physics, where every possible event that can happen does happen in a separate timeline. In this view, you wouldn’t be “changing” the past but rather experiencing an alternate version of it.

I don’t believe in free will, so I’m not concerned about the idea of altering the future by changing the past. If you traveled back in time and killed Hitler, it wouldn’t affect this timeline’s future; instead, you’d simply enter a timeline where that event occurred. The future of your original timeline would remain unchanged.

  • How do you separate the two? The fact that it persists in nature for hundreds of years is what makes it bad. I don't mind someone throwing banana peels into a forest.

  • Littering is one of those things I struggle the most to understand.

I can somewhat grasp it in extreme cases, like when you’re dealing with something really dirty and there’s nowhere to put it. But I’m talking about casual littering - things like throwing candy wrappers on the ground when you could just as easily put them in your pocket.

I don’t think anyone sees themselves as a bad person. Even when we engage in bad behavior, we usually have some story we tell ourselves to justify it. But I can’t put myself in the mindset of someone who casually throws trash on the ground for someone else to clean up. It’s kind of like walking around and cussing at random people - it just doesn’t make any sense. You have to know that you're the problem.

  • All it really says is it can’t definitively say either way.

No it doesn't. It clearly says there that the original claim made in the book, which is the same claim you're making here, is false yet you keep spreading it.

Your claim: he shut down Starlink to stop a Ukrainian assault

Truth: the Ukrainians THOUGHT coverage was enabled all the way to Crimea, but it was not

Elon didn't disable anything. It was never enabled in the first place. Your claim is simply just false.

  • After the fact? After what? After the thing you’re claiming didn’t happen?

Do you see what you’re doing here? You’re using an article whose sole purpose is to debunk the claim you’re trying to make. You’re emotionally invested in this - you don’t like Elon, so you want this to be true. When someone points out that it’s not true, with evidence, you start making things up to avoid acknowledging you were wrong. This is cognitive dissonance. The reason you have this false belief to begin with is because Walter Isaacson wrote about it in his book. Now the exact same person has admitted that this didn't happen yet you still keep harping on about it. You're literally spreading misonformation.

  • Just read the article.

Your claim is that they disabled it. They didn't. It was never enabled in the first place.

  • I believe that it was off not because of SpaxeX's decision but due to U.S. sanctions. Enabling it there would've literally been illegal.

Musk has also added that had he been contacted by U.S. officials and told to turn it on he would have, but they didn't.

  • Maybe you should read the article you linked.

To clarify on the Starlink issue: the Ukrainians THOUGHT coverage was enabled all the way to Crimea, but it was not. They asked Musk to enable it for their drone sub attack on the Russian fleet. Musk did not enable it, because he thought, probably correctly, that would cause a major war.

Starlink is not enabled in Russia or the occupied territories because it would be against U.S. sanctions and enabling it there would be literally illegal.

Musk has even said that had he been contacted by U.S. officials and told to enable it he would have but they didn't.

  • Care to elaborate on why not?

  • Track record of what? Helping Ukraine rather than Russia? Even this article is about helping Ukraine, not Russia. Pretty much every Ukraine related action SpaceX has taken goes against this pro-Russia narrative yet the narrative sticks.
