  • I‘m mentally fine, but I’m worried - every single day. They only thing you can do is not to let it eat you whole.

    Sport and touching grass is good start, but it’s not enough. Are you an American? Start planning how to get out of there. It will be getting worse, much worse. You can also think of stuff were you can do something to contribute helping others.

    Curate your online presence. Get news from a mix of reputable news sources. Try to use your phone less. Do some journaling to sort your thoughts.

    Personally I go more and more analogue recently. I write with a fountain pen in an old fashioned Leuchtturm journal. I bought an old canon camera und take pictures on film. I even bought a typewriter on a flea market for 5 bucks, but I haven’t used it yet.

    The only reason I’m on Lemmy is I want to support a reddit alternative and I want to stay in touch with recent developments. And of course because of memes.

  • Was listening to some computer podcast a while ago and the co-host and ex- hacker was saying that more and more VPNs are getting targeted and it’s just a matter of time we see quite a bit of them owned. (I think he was talking about implementation of VPNs for remote workers, rather than actual VPN providers. Sorry, it was some time ago)

    Anyway, the host asked „What about wireguard?“

    And the co-host: „Oh yeah, wireguard is solid! But all the services building up on wireguard? … They’ll get popped.“

    Doesn’t have to be true, but something to keep in mind.

  • I normally don’t have a problem arguing coherently online. Talking however is a big issue sometimes.

    It might help if you practise writing with a pen on paper. No backspace key, you have to think about what you write more thoroughly. That slows you down and helps over time to gather your thoughts. And if it turns out that you’ve written garbage, just turn to a blank page and start again.

  • LOL, that’s dope! The fact the the AI had to be actually convinced into helping him, speaks in my opinion for it, not against it.

    The author seems to disapprove and has obviously no understanding whatsoever for shenanigans like that. Teenagers do reckless and dangerous things, news at eleven. He is also claiming the student used purely AI for his project, while saying later that the young man used other information sources and talked to people who are more experienced online. That’s how he convinced the AI in the first place, by feeding his conversations into it.

    Fun project, a bit dangerous maybe. Author of this article comes off as an Idiot, in my opinion.

    Edit: Author changes his tone about halfway into the article and is now convinced about the upcoming devices with integrated AI? Doesn’t change my opinion of him, lol.
