  • 20 years isn't long for ancient writings. A lot of history we have from that time is written hundreds of years after the fact, while this was merely decades. And it's pretty consistent. For legends to form typically, generations had to pass, yet the earliest records show Christians always believing that Jesus rose from the dead, leaving little room for speculation or evolution. Contrast this to Marian dogmas where things get added on like the perpetual virginity, her being sinless, assumption of Mary, etc, which are small details developing over centuries. Or St Patrick and the snakes. While the Gospel accounts just pop up at around the same time close to Jesus's life on earth.

    Secondly - that 35 year number is flawed. Averages are calculated by adding up the lifespans and dividing the total number by amount of statistics. People weren't dying at 35. Instead, there was a high infant mortality rate. Caesar was assassinated at 55 years old, Tacitus died at 64. Gordian I lived to be 79, Celsus to 75.

  • There are a load of problems with Islam and the Qur'an, but I'll keep it concise to how the Qur'an disproves itself. The Qur'an makes these points: The Gospel is the word of allah: 3:3-4 No one can change allah's words: 18:27 Strongly implies that the Christians had the Gospel when the Qur'an was written: 7:157 Christians should judge by the Gospel: 5:47

    The Qur'an also denies the death of Jesus and His divinity, which the Bible claims. So it's in obvious contradiction. So judging by the Gospel, Islam is false. And the Gospel cannot be corrupted as the Qur'an recommends the Gospel and claims allah's words cannot be corrupted.

    Paul also gives us this warning: Galatians 1:8

    But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed.

    Considering the Qur'an apparently was revealed to Mohammed by an "angel".... Yeah....

  • Genetic fallacy. I do not have the same faith as my parents. Also, the same can be said about Atheism: you're only atheist because you live in a secular society. If you're in Saudi Arabia, then you won't be an Atheist, you'll be a Muslim. So how can Atheism be true?
