Artist, musical performer, and former derby skater from the Midwest.

I'm single, childless, and married to freedom and adventure.

ACAB, Anti-War, and I hate Democrats, Republicans, and billionaires. (Yes, even your favorite billionaire: the pop star, the philanthropost, the legendary athlete, or the soft-spoken investment guru who cosplays as middle class.) With each passing day I get a little closer to hating everyone.

Also, I refuse to use Donald's last name out of hatred for the man and his brand, FYI.

  • It was designed to handle one party: rich, white landowners. That's very plain in our founding documents, and why the power of the people is so tightly constrained. And it wasn't long after that found that Washington himself set our military on our own discontented farmers.

  • Oh it garnered remarks, all right.

Sadly, that's all it garnered. The US has a three-branch government symbolically only, and our only real power as a people is local.

  • Depends on whether she's opining privately or publicly.

Privately she's said some pretty awful things about him that are absolutely deserved. But in public, she recanted and lined up behind him, which is really disappointing. She could have been helpful to stopping his appointment but now she's party not only to murders happening globally, but the deaths of American reservists who shouldn't be at war in the first place.

  • I just assume they're under contract to surveill everyone.

Bummer that the voters never held anyone accountable for the 'Patriot' Act.

  • Hola Kitty.

Normally I wouldn't pimp out my YT channel on Lemmy, but I made a video on this topic a few weeks ago: https://youtu.be/kklfzIxWJ7I

I hope some of these are new to you.

  • Not me, but it's important to remember that Lemmy doesn't just feed you an algo. You have to actually post things.

  • Mango, you perfect little furry god. <3

  • Yeah, when you're on the global feed, posts fly by at a dizzying rate. Turning on slow mode makes it so that they stop auto-scrolling and only scroll when you click that you want to see more posts.

  • Tango el gato los pantalones

  • No doubt there are bad actors polluting communities on the Fediverse

Yeah, but there's a huge difference: human moderation coupled with better curation tools. You can block a user or a whole instance, which quiets the Nazis pretty fast.

And the people doing the moderation are volunteers who actually give a shit.

  • Yup.

Though I thought of it as the Internet from 2010. No ads. No algo. All chronological. Once you figure out where the slow mode setting is and turn it off, Mastodon is the fucking best. I even pay a voluntary sub every month to help my instance host itself.

And it requires just enough setup (5-10 minutes tops) that the vast majority of the Internet is too lazy to use it, which keeps the quality high.

  • LOL, if there's one thing our ruling parties love, it's letting supposed law enforcers kill citizens.

It's a feature of the American experience, not a bug.

  • Nice.

In his shoes I'd have done the same.

  • Correct.

It's a cycle, and one that's repeated many, many times.

  • Any camera/audio device with a wireless connection in your home is recording and storing your intimate moments.

  • And it will falsely identify people at even greater scale, because it is an imprecise and buggy tool.

  • The news is just desperate to not have to report on all the ass Mamdani is kicking.

  • Plus walking a dog in your neighborhood probably results in increased social interaction and less isolation, probably a plus for long-term health too.

  • That guy just had a sports practice and his body temperature is elevated.

Signed, an athlete in a winter climate.
