I'm single, childless, and married to freedom and adventure.

ACAB, Anti-War, and I hate Democrats, Republicans, and billionaires. (Yes, even your favorite billionaire: the pop star, the philanthropost, the legendary athlete, or the soft-spoken investment guru who cosplays as middle class.) With each passing day I get a little closer to hating everyone.

Also, I refuse to use Donald's last name out of hatred for the man and his brand, FYI.

  • That is partly why I don't date, and why I don't like dealing with people much in general.

    Everyone has so many of these stupid, made-up rules that they kinda just assume are universal because their social media algorithms make it seem that way.

  • Woulda, coulda, shoulda. None of this will work to move the nation. Maybe it worked in Chile, but Chile isn't made up of 50 different countries like the US is.

    The only thing that will affect meaningful change on a national scale is a massive cultural change. I think that reinstating the draft could do it, but we'll see.

    I do think that it's important to do what you can at the local level though. The people still have a measure of power there.

  • Reminds me of the people here in the US who drive gargantuan, gas-guzzling trucks and SUV's in order to make themselves feel cool, when there are smaller, more efficient, and better-running vehicles that are readily available and more useful for daily travel.

    Iran and Ukraine have certainly demonstrated that military priorities in America are misplaced, not to mention their strategy. From what I've read, we're running out of the interceptor missiles we need to protect against these drones and they're too expensive and difficult to produce that it'll take years to replace the American stockpile. (Though, admittedly, I'm no expert and only know what I read.)

    It also reminds me of Vietnam, when the US was defeated, essentially, with booby traps made of wood, natural cables and string, and scavenged ordnance. Hell, listening to Keg-breath speak about Iran reminds me very much of Robert McNamara. Sucks that we have people running wars who paid smarter people to write their history term papers.

    But this one isn't on the military in my book. The Joint Chiefs told them the US military wasn't prepared for a war with Iran and why, and Donald just assumed he could order up another victory like a Big Mac. He was destined to fuck with the wrong country eventually.

  • It's not a 'Don't Look Up' moment.

    People don't want to hear about it because they're working 2-3 jobs and 100 hours a week to afford rent on a roach-infested studio and food is becoming cost-prohibitive, on top of education, health care, and yes, fuel too. Both parties have gaslit them about it within the last two years to try and get elected.

    And they don't have any power to do anything about it.

    Good question. I was only on it for about 30 minutes, so I don't really have extensive feedback other than it felt very low quality and too basic.

    Are there any well-populated instances you would recommend? I could be convinced to give it another try.

    I'll consider doing that.

    Why did you find it underwhelming?

    There's a chapter on that in the video. :D But I was just vastly unimpressed with the quality of content and the UI. It's not a viable YouTube alternative at this point, IMHO.

    One of the things I love about the Fediverse is how easy it is to avoid political content. So many good filtering settings under the hood, especially on Mastodon, but with Lemmy you can just subscribe to non-political content and make your subs your default home page.

    We can be intense though.

  • It's gotten a pretty good response, despite my channel being smaller. I think a lot of folks just don't realize that there's viable, enjoyable social media that is ad, AI, and algo-free.

    This is just a way for SpaceX to try further integrate itself into the spheres of government and public funding, and thus, make it easier to justify government bailouts.

    We've hung out in person half a dozen times but facetime and chat all the time.
