  • Ugh, this is exactly how I feel when it comes to modding games.

"You need RandomAndy's Live Framework (RALF) version 2.01b. Don't use 2.01c, it has issues, but some stuff is built for .c so make sure you check each component. Don't download it from the main site though - it comes packaged with YAMP4A (Yet Another Mod Pack for Armour) so you don't need to worry about it. Now to install my mod you need these three separate packages..."

Christ, this cannot be worth it.

  • On the flipside I've encountered docs that expect the reader to already understand the functionality in order to be able to use the docs. They seem to exist solely as a reminder to those who already know.

There's a reason I don't bother running my own mailservers anymore!

  • I hear that. I was refactoring a codebase and they used a special library for tooltips. There are two tool tips on the entire site and the library uses its own perverse syntax.

I've never got into modern JS frameworks because they seem to be utterly insane. If you need all that to build a site, you need to work on your fundamentals.

  • Why even bother hearing the case if you're not going to do anything about it regardless of the outcome? To waste everyone's time?

  • Who is still using fuckin' Twitter? Don't go to the nazi bar.

  • I generally have to look at the technical department's name badges as I don't deal with them often enough to recognise them by just their faces.

  • But cookies are a subset of biscuits...

  • I wish government organisations would host their own Mastodon servers. Get off Twitter.

  • Arguably if you have to work this hard to get something usable out of Windows, why bother?

  • Unless they've changed it in the last month then it's 50 GB for zip.

  • Yeah, I'm getting really tired of "no duh" headlines. Might as well say "Wallet inspector turns out to be random thief".

  • I really wouldn't want to spend that much time listening to this embarrassment of a human being talk.

  • Does this demographic also have to be supervised at meal times lest they try to eat the cutlery?

  • I wouldn't want to be the one having to compile that video.

  • A kajillion dollars, eh? Fucking idiot.

  • I've used it for one small project and quite liked it. I struggle with the concepts behind relational databases and Mongo's approach was understandable for me.

  • That didn't happen until 2013.

  • I have five users, max, and barely any files. I don't know which one Nextcloud AIO uses and I don't care. There's no wrong answer for such a small deployment. It uses whatever database Nextcloud felt was sensible as the default. They know more about picking the right tool for their requirements than I do.

If I'm building something for myself, then I care.

  • How many children will die or be maimed by the arrogance of these people?
