  • As a middle-schooler back then, I already disliked my own appearance, so I didn't know where I stood. I haven't been deceived often; in fact, I can't remember more than one major instance. I think the bullying was more damaging as it was so brazen as to not mind even other passersby noticing. I've still struggled with my appearance ever since.

Only people with a certain minimum self-confidence know where they "stand." I think for everyone else, bullying can be worse.

  • Too bad it can't handle private messages apart from reading; you can't even easily mark them as read. The interface is mostly excellent, though, and hey, I'm using it for this comment right now.

  • Big reason I'm done with sync paid software.

    FTFY

  • Right, so a personal vice: I could only imagine something on the level of porn or a similar addiction, like maybe /r/wallstreetbets-like content, but we still haven't heard back from @Clinicallydepressedpoochie@lemmy.world for an example of exactly what s/he/they mean. I can't imagine what else it could be, but I also don't want to assume.

  • Well, could you explain the "you can't bring yourself to" part? I sure don't get that.

  • Why the hell are you getting so many downvotes on this?!?!

The question may be considered confusing, and it may also be considered annoying that OP gives no context or clarity that could shed some light on it. While I didn't downvote, I personally don't yet understand how to interpret the question, unless maybe it's about porn or some personal vice.

  • How is that related to post-hiding, though?

I personally just hide link posts of sports articles because I have no interest in the topic.

Are you talking about posts that you think you should hide for yourself when it comes to a personal temptation?

  • Ultimately, it's up to you! You don't have to let Feng shui govern your life; it's just one philosophy out of many.

  • Ha, fair!

  • What Linux distros did you try, though? Some are explicitly less user-friendly than others. Also, how about Llama?

  • I feel like he's got a DOGE-requiring ace up his sleeve that will prevent that... but maybe in 2026!

  • Okay, so go on... instead of only listing negatives, what are the alternatives to each of these that you use?

  • I have two .TXT files for non-urgent tasks:

    • Remote Work
    • On-Site Work (everything involving something physical, basically)

I don't use apps except Google/Outlook calendar for urgent/time-specific tasks. I immediately make an empty draft for each email that I must reply to or otherwise do something with, which I then review during any downtime; I try to keep my inbox's unread count at zero the majority of the time (during working hrs, anyway). To me, flagging is pointless if you're gonna respond anyway; you may as well start that process with a draft and then review your drafts. I work through drafts from the oldest to the newest.

With that said, I don't use due dates, either, and get away with just calendaring.

  • I'm kind of like you except unread emails bug me (and I wanna at least briefly read what they have to say—and not have to keep marking them as unread after), so what I do is: I start a draft if I must follow up with it somehow. Then when I have time, I browse through the drafts and fire them off as I get to them.

  • Ouch, I'm so sorry you're having to deal with this!

  • Hey, I'll watch you stream Noita and FTL whenever! I'd walk you through them as best as I can! Noita is almost entirely a game of visibility, IMHO; the All-Seeing Eye perk is unbeatable, rivaled only by immunities. And yes, FTL has a tremendously awesome soundtrack!

  • Oh, absolutely. I just mean that we appear to be headed in that direction.

  • Nanobots of 90's sci-fi, here we finally come!
