I like city building games and puzzles. I like other things as well, but that's not important right now.

  • I think you're on a good track. Some tips i've picked up though: Switch the milk you use with cereal/tea/coffee to soya milk, i found that it helps. Also don't underestimate the power of a short stroll if you've been sitting down for a lot of the day - prompts the body to be in fat burning mode rrathee than fat building mode.

  • Pinpoint her ideology or religion and you will find venerated figures that didn't "provide value." For instance if we're talking about productive labour in the capitalist sense, Jesus didn't have a job (for most of the bible's narrative). Confucius? Similar story, I think. Any philosopher or religious figure...

    Value really becomes subjective. If you're a writer like Ayn Rand or George Orwell, of course you have been very successful, but many people don't find value in your work, because they disagree with you.

    Our ability to provide value is also fairly contingent on those around us, the head-start they've given to us, and the problems or trauma we have to overcome.

  • It's fascinating, isn't it. To me, the most important parts of history are whenever some small event dominoes into rapid & drastic change. CoVID and the 2024 US election are recent examples of this, but all throughout history we see that leaders and insurmountable empires are toppled by one small thing, or the actions of a relative "nobody."

    So unfortunately OP's premise is wrong - there's no measured rhythm to historical events, as any one of us could change the world tomorrow.

  • The most well adjusted people I know stay in love with something/things from their childhood. Also, revisiting childhood experiences is a popular therapy exercise for recovering from mental trauma.

    Lego and old console gaming are two very common things to be interested in as an adult :) If you have a genuine connection to something, don't force yourself to sever it.

  • If you think people are good, you’re probably right and if you think people are bad, you’re probably right.

    I'm not sure if it's objectively right, but I do totally support this because I think it's right "for you" - as in, if you think someone's a bad person they won't be right for you. If you think someone's a good person, they'll be right for you. (This isn't on a first impression basis though)

  • Oh I am SO tired of that music on repeat on stores. 70s and 80s is overwhelmingly the period i vibe to the most, and going to cafes and hearing the same songs that spotify recommends to me makes me feel like a slave to the algorithm - it makes my own taste in music seem really mainstream.

  • I disagree. They ban for trumped-up reasons and being banned from 2 seperate subs makes you susceptible to just having your account banned from all of reddit temporarily.

    There is NO human to appeal to in the ban process and sometimes no explanation of why you got banned.

    Reddit use outrageous tracking techniques to try and detect stuff like multiple account usage and manually upvoting the same stuff with 2 accounts.

    They seem to have made it illegal to have more than one account, but haven't announced this anywhere. If they don't want people to accidentally break their rules they need to make account formation harder, perhaps tie it to a phone number or wait for approval.

    They're also dishing out bans for being pro-Palestine now, which might be why some fediverse instances like PieFed have/had a Palestine flag in their logo.
