  • The main thing is that group by gives you a smaller number of rows than the input, collapsing the data from individual rows into the group rows in the output, while a window function does not change the number of rows - it just allows you to use data from other rows for calculations in each output row

  • I know a lot of people including me that haven't bought a switch 2 after owning every nintendo console released in their lifetime because they're disgusted with with Nintendo's behavior. I'm sure some percentage of them will cave eventually but it's definitely a non-zero amount of money they've left on the table by being like this

  • The AUR is kind of a trap. It can be useful but it has the warnings it has for a reason. Maintainers are not vetted so you depend on them both to be benevolent and competent and neither are reliable.

No one should really use it without taking the time to understand pkgbuild but you have people recommending AUR helpers like yay and tying AUR updates to regular system updates which is a terrible idea

  • Also duckdb. Realizing I could do SELECT ... FROM 'arbitrary-file.xlsx' was a wondrous occasion

  • You linked the article about archive.today? Are you high? I think I'll just block you because you're insufferable

  • So there is a pattern. I agree that makes it much worse. You could have just said that instead of literally every other comment you wasted my time with.

  • Nice sealioning! I hope you have a nice day but I'm moving on

  • I don't give a fuck what Vincent said. You're latching onto something that is completely pointless and I'm not going to engage you on.

Assuming your link is about the shit Andy Yen said before, then I agree it is problematic, but I don't think there is a through line to proton sponsoring Vincent. I'd bet it's completely unrelated.

  • I literally know nothing about Vincent other than that he's a bad dude. I just find the scenario as it has been laid out believable. If it becomes a pattern then I'll join you with my pitchfork.

  • I copy pasted it from know your meme lol

  • I think it is easily believable that it was a single sponsorship and Vincent used the word partnership without even thinking about it, and I also find it easily believable that the sponsorship is something that slipped through the cracks rather than having any meaning, and I find the response from Proton to be acceptable. I just don't think it is as big a deal as you're wanting it to be ¯(ツ)_/¯

  • You Really Think Someone Would Do That? Just Go On the Internet and Tell Lies?

  • That could be. I think c# in vscode proper has some proprietary secret sauce :(

  • C++ is my favorite language I've ever programmed in and is not even close, but I spent way too much of my time on code reviews because I couldn't trust almost anyone I worked with not to create dangling refs, memory leaks, etc

  • How does unique_ptr teach reference counting? It's just a way to interface with RAII and move semantics

  • we are all free to listen to eachother’s point of views, then arrive at our own conclusions .

Sure, but I'm not going to pretend for a second that the pseudointellectual masturbation of "rationalists" is worth a damn just because their narratives were useful to capalist oligarchs so some people call them "experts" now. What a farce

  • The existence of enshitification isn't an argument that every attempt to make something profitable via enshitification will succeed.
