  • 🙄

  • I'm this very comment you are anthropomorphizing them by comparing them to humans again. This is exactly why they've chosen this specific terminology.

  • No it's not. Hallucinations is marketing to make the fact that llms are unreliable sound cool. Simple as

  • Why give air to this shameless marketing

  • Without reading anything but the title - yes. I actively avoid going to restaurants that use single use plates and the like. I also take containers with me and encourage others to do so rather than using single use takeout containers for leftovers. I also am not keen on doing takeout.

  • The company says this is because it’s shifting its AOSP reference target from Pixel hardware to a virtual device called “Cuttlefish” to be more neutral.

This actually probably make sense, but they could still be cool and have pixel drivers be open source in a different repo if that was the only reason.

  • Anything being less open is sad regardless of your opinion of the hardware.

  • Just FYI the example that person gave would absolutely not explain a huge performance difference. I don't think they understand what they're looking at.

  • That is not a good example. That is an immediate function call happening once when the program starts and certainly does not have a large impact like you are suggesting.

  • They're still making money hand over fist. This is yet another shield for the fact that capitalism as we have implemented it is a dog shit system and we at the very least need real labor laws like a civilized fucking country

  • The joke is officially dead when you force someone 3 layers above you to demand “why did Galactica go down over the weekend, who is responsible?!”.

On the contrary, that's the best thing that could possibly happen.

Edit: Also fuck anyone that actually addresses their subordinates that way.

  • GNOME being viewed as standard because of history is the source of a lot of complaints people have about Linux when comparing to windows and that never ceases to frustrate me

  • TS is compiled to JS, so the JS interpreter isn't privy to the type information. TS is basically a robust static analysis tool

  • My first thought is perhaps the TS is not targeting ESNext so they're getting hit with polyfills or something

  • That definitely raised an eyebrow for me. Admittedly I haven't looked in a while but I thought I remembered perl being much more performant than ruby and python

  • Care to elaborate?

  • In my experience, for developers, actual productivity is inversely correlated to AI usage espousal. I straight up had an extremely mid developer tell our CFO (who has no business scheduling meetings about AI with devs in the first place) that AI made them 10x as productive. This of course is complete bullshit, and of course it got the CFO salivating. All of this is madness

  • That one is fun because it's so fundamental that everyone that takes developmental biology in college gets you read about it

  • Gnome is garbage lol
