I don’t like touch screens, or screens in general. I miss Minidisc so much. It was and is the absolute best for me.
The iPod with the click wheel would be my next choice but they’re too expensive now. CD cases were cumbersome, and when lined up it’s hard to read the spines. They skip too when I’m walking.
I’d go back to cassettes again if they were released to the same standard as back in the day (Dolby NR, etc). I like handling the cases and they look better lined up on a shelf.

Joking aside, Walmart is a prolific human rights abuser. People in not only USA, but Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, and China have been reported to have intensive labor exploitation and abuse.
Forced labor, wage theft, sexual harassment, and sweatshop conditions with extremely low pay and long hours are among reports. Also, forced prison labor in Southeast Asia linked to their suppliers, allegations involving Uyghur forced labor in China, ... just .. ugh.
I actually support telemetry for Mozilla, especially the way they've implemented it. But the other features look great and I don't want anything to do with GitHub projects. Starred on Codeberg!

Most of the applications I use host their code on GitHub. I'm actively looking for replacements for as many of them as possible, because it's just immoral to participate with Microsoft, IMO.
But that's a poor article. A more accurate headline might be "Concerns about GitHub's parent company, Microsoft". But that wouldn't generate the same attention.
I would say Ubuntu, Mint or Debian. They have a lot of documentation online and years worth of forum posts and stack overflow threads answering various questions a user might have.
If you have a seperate computer or hard drive to install on, you can go wild trying out anything you like. In my case, I had one laptop so I needed something stable with good hardware detection and online resources.
(For context, I've tried Mandrake Linux, SUSE, Gentoo, Slitaz and a few others. I keep going back to Ubuntu / Debian.)
I think that attitude is a trap, and what got us into this mess in the first place. If more people did what Young did, these platforms wouldn't have the power (which we give them) to unleash as much harm on the world. Your suggestion implies that we should all wait for others to move first. That's the definition of paralysis.
And with a net worth the size of Young's, it's simply not true to say he "needs" to use those platforms, except in the more privileged misuse of the word. They're luxury items for him.

Okay. I think we agree on more than we disagree.I also appreciate your input on effective strategy on serious issues like this - I 100% agree. I think you’ve misinterpreted me a little, so let me clarify:
I support BDS actively. Organised movements are vital.
As I’ve said in the comments: perfect is the enemy of the good. I will drop as many projects as I can. Media players, web browsers, mail clients, social platforms - can all be changed for more ethical alternatives. It doesn’t have to be black or white.
I will never wait for any individual or group to give me the go ahead to do what I think is the right thing. BDS isn’t perfect.
I am not selling anything, or trying to temper my actions to be more palatable to the more hesitant . It also turns out that I’m far from alone in this, but I was equally happy to go first. I don’t think that it’s a waste of effort at all.
So, yes, strategy is important. But personal efforts count too. Among other things, I am challenging the widely held apathy (and empathy deficit) held by tech enthusiasts that such a move is pointless or too difficult. And along the way I am finding likeminded people I didn’t know were out there.
