  • Living in the US. Before I buy anything, I do my best to check the manufacturer out to see that it comes from a blue state. Check on Goods Unite Us to find out if they donate more to Republicans or Democrats. I am postponing or self-performing tasks and work that would require a "trade", since I'm guessing those people are more conservative anyways. Sorry to any reasonable peopIe I may be accidentally boycotting.

    I know it's not perfect, but its at least something.

  • I'm in the same boat. I'm into cars, and have a couple that I enjoy very thoroughly, but I've never been able to think of a name that sticks, even tho I've tried. I usually just refer to as "The Mazda" or whatever. Mayhe one day I'll have a Jaguar, and will be able to refer to it as "The Jag" like Jeremy Clarkson haha

  • Completely agree with this. To be "Christian" is to embrace this concept of an in-crowd and an out-crowd; if you're not part of "my" crowd you can literally go to fucking hell and my omnipotent God-ruler is going to make sure you're punished eternally if you don't do what I say.

    Being a shitty person is baked in at the deepest foundation of being Christian, and probably most types of religion tbh.

  • Yah just use Firefox or Moisturefox or whatever flavor of like Google's only competitor browser you want. I haven't used Chrome since I first caught wind of Google pushing their entire web-DRM thing they were trying to do to make us look at ads. I can wait an extra 1/100 of a second for the web page to load and adjust to slightly different browser plug-ins to literally save the entire free and open web lol

    I get my toilet unclogged for even cheaper, and I get more money ten years from now when demand has risen.

    I'd prefer to just have educated workers instead of glorifying back-breaking manual labor that the employees hate, but ill take a win where I can lol

  • This was literally my first thought. You'd basically have to go through every one of the millions of components across every square inch to verify there was nothing sketchy going on. Not to mention, you'd have to review all of the software and firmware to make sure it wasn't modified or sabotaged in some way. It would take an excruciating amount of effort to make it "safe".

  • Yeah, and I think everyone has forgotten that even the cheap, easily broken stuff helps us save money. I'll happily buy the cheap 100 dollar Chinese tool to fumble with for an extra couple hours on a one-time car repair that saves me 500 dollars compared to the only American option, or 900 dollars going to a shop instead.

    Things are just going to end up broken and unfixable in the non-industrial world too.
